I also got a lot of problem snapping watches pictures
especially when both my gf's watch and mine are silver. The light reflection is hard to avoid, some more under flourescent light, it's even harder
Maybe I will try again when I have natural light with me... err.. there's no time limit for this, right? at least for this first time
The trick is to focus your phone on another matte object with a light color the same distance from the phone and intended object. Say you want to take a pic of a watch which is 10cm away from the phone. Then focus on another about 10 cm away and get a focus lock. Then aim back at the watch, adjust the distance so it's almost the same and take a pic. May take a few tries to get the best results. And you must be sure where you want to focus. Is it the needles on the watch, the numbers on the watch of the glass cover of the watch. Most often when taking pics of stuff inside transparent casing, the camera ends up focusing on the transparent casing instead of the objects in it.Maybe I will try again when I have natural light with me... err.. there's no time limit for this, right? at least for this first time
