i remember it was in year 2005 (that was a month after the passing of my pet dog Dalmation), i jumped into a deep monsoon drain just to save a dog.
semarak there.  after saving the dog, i got back into my car.  I thought of my dog and straight away i cried.      cry.gif

I know well the feels bro console.gif and you did a very good thing.

Have done the same thing a few times b4, but didn't jump into the monsoon/storm drain. I keep snatch straps in my vehicles and they come in handy for such use. A snatch strap has a loop at either end which can be affixed to the vehicle's tow hook. Lower myself into the drain, get the doggo, and use the end of the snatch strap to tie a makeshift chest harness for the doggo. The strap is broad and will not cut into flesh. Haul myself back up (if there are no helpers around), then haul up the doggo. If there are willing helpers, let them haul up the doggo first.

Some may wonder while I'm in the car how come I know there is a stray dog in the drain?

So happened that week my car stereo set rosak. And I was stuck in the usual semarak morning jam, and I wasn't using my AC. Front windows were opened.

Heard a dog yelping non stop and dog people can tell that this yelping means that dog is struggling.
Stopped my car at the road shoulder and walked over to the big drain. Saw a dog struggling to stay afloat in the drain water .
Went in and help push the dog out from the drain.

I did not wonder so...some things happen for a reason, the likes of which one may be hard-pressed to uncover. Just take it that the dog was very fortunate you cane along when you did.

As for my own doggy rescue episodes, metal detecting and gold panning are hobbies of mine. I sometimes look in large storm drains for deposits of black sands (magnetite) which were washed into it. Sometimes flecks of very fine gold particles are among the black sands wink.gif And so if i come across an unfortunate animal, i'll help it get out of the drain.

I think if we Sarawakians want to commit suicide, jumping into the river wont probably our main option since most of us forest tree people knows how to swim 😂😂. Crocodile also won't eat us.

While that guy probably tries to drown himself, crocodile friend is the one who saves him and bring him back to shore.
