Hi

Already have a desktop.
Adding a laptop as an alternate between.

Refurbish only.
Budget < RM600
i5 or i7 (don't want Core 2 Duo, don't want Celeron)

Dell Latitude (< 2017)
I kind of trust Dell. My refurbish Dell LCD monitor is on its 9th year tongue.gif
Google say Latitude and Vistro is better than Inspiron.
Windows 10 Pro
Windows 7 also got.

MacBook Air ( < 2015)
Google said Pro > Air.
Saw a 2009 Pro and IINM a few < 2014 ones.
Retina
Catalina

Saw a few of those within the price range.

Is it nomal for MacBook to use Intel proc? hmm.gif

Using them for basic stuff, internet...movies...webcam.

If u like W11, opt for Windows.

I hated W11 so mostly opted for older Windows laptops. But recently, I'm giving W11 a try again and bought mostly 8-9th gen laptops. So far, it is kinda usable.

As for MacBook, I prefer upgradable and repairable models so I kept my old 2012, maxed out the upgrades and ran Sonoma on it. Need to use OpenCore Legacy Patcher to get it running.

You either get the most bang for buck or get something high quality/premium. Don't get anything in between.

(older) Thinkpads have a reputation for being reliable
Plus with them being old work laptops, companies dump em and they are somewhat priced okay on the used market
Dell equivalent would be Latitiude

Hi, for such budget, I would recommend you purchase 2011-12 iMac, yes, it is old but it last pretty well, and it can run windows 10 nicely once you add the ram to 16GB and SSD (quite cheap now aday)

Why 2011? Because this “thicker” imac can upgrade ram and SSD pretty easy, the screen glass is magnet, just remove it carefully and unscrew the LCD, you can upgrade the SSD, or ask the shop do for you.

It price RM700 - 900 depend on if you ask them upgrade SSD/RAM.

It is 4-Core i5 or i7, and a discrete graphic card (6750 or 6770M) , the screen is bright and big, very suitable for office task. Infact, our office has 3 of this, run pretty well and responsive.

You can install windows 10 thru bootcamp (built in), and run some 2010-2016 games very well.

The internal speaker is very loud and bassy, and most important the all in one is saving lot of space.

I don’t recommend you to buy laptop at such age, as their battery should be need to replace already, especially Macbook Air, it can be costly.
