 Why VM cannot tally with VM physical file

Any pakar it /K can help. Got one Window 10 VM. Manage to delete all those not in use programs and trim to 86GB only since need that one particular software for testing but why the VM physical file still show 112GB. Haiyah..... storage already not enough as SSD only half tera VM consume so much somemore

VMware ESXi, check datastore and delete the rest data.

VMware workstation pro, check C:\Users\XXX\Documents\Virtual Machines and delete from there.

U need to trim it.

If u assign 112gb it’s assign space. 86gb is use but assign is 112 so u need to resize the disk

use fat or thin allocation for VM?

from way you describe, it sound like fat allocation. if so, need to resize disk

VMware a bit leceh. Feel like use program to open program. Hyper V feel native to me

This is not new VM but actually previous company laptop Window and i convert it to VM so i can continue use it biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Kinda blur blur dont really understand what you mean. As now i am also with VM. Haiyah might as well just leave it like this. If really need storage later on i'll just delete VM as still got a copy on my other PC. Just this faster to use due to laptop high spec

You are still looking at vm layer. U need to look at the hypervisor for this configuration

Checked. No way to make storage fixed anymore. Now is on dynamic storage mode.
