X50 Owner here, best I can get is 5.8KM/l, thats purely 80% highway and 20% city, while 100% city driving around 9KM/L.

Those who question why X50 is so heavy, please google whats HPF is and check whether HRV has the HPF embed to its frame or not.

i assume u're saying 5.8 litters / 100km.
this is pretty ok & standard for a SUV.
FYI, DCT fc is ok-ish on cruise, but start stop is not that good.

HRV cvt better fc overall.
DCT more punch & more fun to drive, white HRV cvt good fc but feels sluggish.
HRV feels like towing weight while x50 more omph.

not really due to DCT,

VW can get crazy good FC even thought DCT only

i think the VW model u referring to is using dry DCT, which is really not suitable for malaysia hot climate + jam.
wet DCT slip a bit, hence wasting torque & fuel on stop start.
