QUOTE(plouffle0789 @ Nov 4 2023, 12:17 PM) Philippines spare part not compatible with Malaysia standard. this is the reason why Malaysia proton always got new car model after china and Philippines. Left hand drive vs Right hand drive bro.Means new spare part in philipines quality not good? May you share what geeely car model in philipines now? And Philippines Geely Emgrand use same engine and transmission as China. |

QUOTE(chicaman @ Nov 7 2023, 10:12 AM) A car segment is not based on length, its based on length of wheelbase. The wheelbase of S70 is same like B Segment Whilst wheelbase measurement is probably the most accurate to classify a car's segment, the standard is also getting longer and longer over time. E.g. Mitsu Lancer/Proton Inspira was a C segment and had a shorter wheelbase (2635mm) than S70. In before some retard trying to argue NOWADAYS segment is based on price. Totally mindblown QUOTE(chicaman @ Nov 7 2023, 10:54 AM) Im no expert, but in my opinion, for Malaysia, 2700mm and above Ya. I agree with you. 2700mm seems like the magic number among Japanese makers. Dont forget that S70 is based on Geely BMA, not CMA That itself pretty much speak for itself QUOTE(lowyat101 @ Nov 7 2023, 11:02 AM) Wheelbase is important but from what I see, Honda City's rear seat is more spacious and comfortable than a Mazda 3. So it also depends on the design as well. Wheelbase != rear seat legroom ya. Car designs from Honda and Perodua are especially good in optimizing legroom. Same legroom with shorter wheelbase? That's a fkin Myvi and do you know how's the ride? It's quite jarring. Also shorter wheelbase will be easier to drive around the corners, if you can get the same spaciousness with shorter wheelbase I think it's a better option. QUOTE(Gargamel_gibson @ Nov 7 2023, 12:35 PM) Segmentation itself is very vague, wheelbase is not the way to differentiate. You can extend a car wheelbase like Saga Limousine, end of day still Saga segment. C segments usually use higher quality and spec material/features. See X50 and X70 difference, interior size I would say not that much different. But one is torsion beam, one is multilink. Cabin materials also different class even if X50 is better design but materials feel cheaper than X70. Yes it is vague and no hard rules. Also it moves with time. Guess what, our very first gen Saga (not the limo) was a C segment!Another example of how segment is so vague is X90 vs X70. In actual fact the X90 in China is cheaper car than X70 and therefore use lower class materials. Proton/Geely Malaysia try to upsell X90 as higher priced than X70. That's one of the reason for X90 fire issues, Proton add extra insulation compared to ori Geely and the insulation catch fire because Geely bad grounding design. I think we can all agree that this argument started in the first place was solely due to Proton's opportunistic move, by naming it S70 instead of S50. But IMHO, this move is possible due to weak engines of other B segment cars in our market. |

QUOTE(Gargamel_gibson @ Nov 8 2023, 03:17 PM) Non-ethical. You assume the corresponding S-series(Sedan) of X70(X-over SUV) to be based on the same X70 C segment platform. Instead is based on BMA platform. Proton actually did it before with old Persona, sell C segment car at B segment price, top spec only 60k compared to smaller Honda City top spec 90k. But old Persona was genuine C segment at the time, wheelbase is 2600mm compared to City 2450mm. Yup. I had that Persona actually, Elegance. It's a nice car and kira worth the ride la. Compact C. But the engine wasn't a C segment. This round, S70 has the C segment engine but not the dimension of current gen of C segment. I hope the booking is low and they reduce the price haha. |

QUOTE(ayamxxx @ Nov 8 2023, 05:35 PM) ride and drive the Persona last batch Elegance last time, the Engine is massive weak points. low end torque is obvious. Another office car, Waja CPS on the other hand more animal at highway. Yup. The ride was really good, although not Waja level. Just the engine was really the weakest point. QUOTE(plouffle0789 @ Nov 8 2023, 06:01 PM) No.QUOTE(Tacotaco @ Nov 8 2023, 06:13 PM) Which segment doesn't matter. Not like it stated on your car grant. Mazda2 is a B segment. Just be like delusional Mazda owners. All Mazda models are C and D segment only. Sometimes can be considered as luxury segment too. |

QUOTE(plouffle0789 @ Nov 13 2023, 10:05 PM) From time to time I just search for X50 wear and tear parts like shock absorber, ball joints etc, it seems like not many are selling these, especially original parts. There's something not right with Geely-era Proton OE distro. |
