X50, X70 - got hpf.

S70 - which is actually entry level car in china like saga and bezza - DONT HAVE HPF.
look at their marketing, never say out. blardy b segment car at c segment pricing!

S70 share some BMA platform with X50
Although they did mention X50 chassis were strengthened, but wasn't sure if they did the same for S70.

I guess the Reason why they did not market this because BMA platform were Geely's, unlike Iriz they can claim because were homegrown RESS.

HPF is just a technique to make very strong steel that's stronger than Ultra High Strength Steels which is also adopted by other car maker.

Quoted from Pauline site "Safety is another key feature, with BMA being designed to exceed the criteria for a five-star EuroNCAP safety rating. It utilises 70% high-strength steel and 20% hot-formed steel in its construction, and has been designed to accommodate active safety features as well as Level 2 and Level 3 autonomous driving."

you sure the bma in s70 is the same bma?

also for those who can read chinese - maaf eh aku tak pandai....but i saw these chinese youtubers crack open and test s70 body panel body pillar in china...all failed..below 1500mpa.

the chinese reading expert please help dig out the video..

https://space.bilibili.com/27898757 in the link.

this is also the same guy who popularise HRV vs X50 video in youtube and proven hrv is tin milo.

also another guy who rolled peugot 3008 vs tiguan down the mountain and found out 3008 tougher. maybe he got his opinion on s70 too.

You got it the wrong way la bro. C-segment car at b-segment pricing.

And don't compare Emgrand with s70. It's obvious proton designed it according to their spec. Safety very good because of hpf. This is not Toyota/Perodua simply lied on the crash tests

i think the VW model u referring to is using dry DCT, which is really not suitable for malaysia hot climate + jam.
wet DCT slip a bit, hence wasting torque & fuel on stop start.

Geely x50 tune with super hard suspension.
Proton tune it a bit softer.

Got review before but cant remember which reviewer went all the way to china and did the comparison.

China have super smooth road so they can go with hard suspension.

And proton tune it so it can absorb bump and hole better.
Proton even got mention about it.

I am lazy to find the articles

Many Chinese brands car copy the tech from German as use of turbocharged, dual clutch and even the radiator coolant. But the main different between Chinese and German car is the ride and handling. In China people mostly prefer "soft suspension" over the stiff one. If you got a chance pls go test drive the new Chinese brands in Malaysia such as Omoda 5, Tiggo 8, Atto 3, Dophin, Ora Cat etc. Most of them are in soft setting rather than hard and this is exactly same setup as China market.

Proton isn't tune the X50 a bit softer, it is too soft like old Toyota. The absorber rebounce too much after a bump, this feel comfort but in high speed this feel floating.

Am I the only one who finds the design not that impressive? Was expecting something like Perdana, but this s70 is not even close to that level.

Hello!
We talk specifically for x50 aka proton. Not other china brands which we know they did not tune the suspension according to malaysian taste.

Here read from this article: https://www.wapcar.my/news/malaysias-proton...ely-binyue-6413

Geely binyue have stiffer damper. Proton tune a lot of things to improved the ride and handling for malaysia market.

S70 is the same. Proton did tune s70 according to malaysia market as they did for X series. I am just sharing u this info.

It is good to tune comfort but this setting is "ultra comfort" which is tend to be like sampan riding feel. We all know Proton is famous with its ride and handling but this is completely missing in X50. When I browse youtube maybe youtubers claim the X50 is good in almost everywhere and in handling parts most comment it is more in comfort side but handling still good. The truth is the ride and handling is not good at all, the sampan feeling can feel as slow as 30km/h while passing uneven road.

I am ok with outside design.

If you just try to sit inside, damn, the interior looks cheap and plasticky
