My maid agency had the same rule..
Frankly I think it's a dumb rule but as a parent and employer u don't want any issues to arise when ur not at home
I did give her a 3310 phone with prepaid line with cheaper idd.
I let her use the smartphone on Saturday - Sunday when we're home.
3310 top up is beared by her.
This is at the beginning 5 years ago.. Now my kids grown I just let her keep the smartphone. She pandai pandai manage her time..
