TLDR, if you are facing slow speed after your plan is upgraded by TM, these are the things to check.

Note: This only apply to slow speed when tested with a LAN cable. Wi-Fi will be story for another day.

1. Check your TM Fibre modem, some old fiber modem only support up to 100Mbps. Make sure you restart your modem and router after the plan upgrade is done.

2. Change your Ethernet cable from modem to router and router to your PC
Ethernet cables will eventually degrade due to oxidation. Just get a Vention / Ugreen CAT6 cable from whatever online shopping platform you prefer, they are super cheap and pretty decent.

3. Update your router to latest firmware, reset the router and setup again.
Unless your router is still AC1200, most if not all Wi-Fi 6 routers can support up to 900Mbps on stock configuration.

4. Last resort, give TM a call and request them to check in their system and send a technician.

How to test your connection to make sure TM is giving you the right speed?
1- Connect a LAN cable to the router
2- Use speedtest.net desktop app for maximum accuracy
3- Disable whatever antivirus or bloat you have while testing

Hi all, just got my notification of upgrade from 100 to 300. But I check its still 100 mbps.

Do I need to upgrade my BTU ? My BTU is the old black one, easily 9 years old.

Share the model for your BTU, router and how you connect to the internet from your PC.

If you've Huawei HG850a, then you need to ask for them to upgrade the BTU. This BTU supports 10/100 only.

Thanks for the reply. I am using the old BTU, black colour with the TM logo on top. My Router is a TP link Acrcher C9.

I see on Shopee there are people selling BTU. Can I get those ?

hades76 it's advisable to either live chat maya or call 100 to let technician come and configure new onu for you

Don't forget, onu has lifetime warranty as long as you are with unifi, so replacement will be 100% free with no contract renewal

Can't you just give us the model number instead of having us guess? That's probably the Huewai A058hg.

It's HUAWEI hg850a, one of earlier onu during earlier days of unifi fiber/vdsl deployment (early 2010s), and unfortunately by design it only got 100mbps fast eth port

Later HUAWEI model starting with HG8240w, HG8240H etc they all got gigabit ethernet
