Hamas did win the elections in Gaza though. Palestinians there elected them to power in 2006.

Israeli is not interested in Gaza but they are more interested in West Bank. If you read the news, the land grab are happening in West Bank and not Gaza. Why? East Jerusalem is in West Bank.

He was trying to keep Hamas strong enough to threaten Fatah. Keeping both sides in conflict was the strategy Isreal employed because if Hamas is busy with Fatah, they don’t have time for Isreal.

However, it is clear now this strategy backfired badly!

One cannot deny that, but also you need to know that Hamas was created by Israel to counter balance the PLO and Fatah that were seen to have a stronger support for Palestinians’ causes, and since then they (Hamas) have been a tool or a thorn on Israel…whichever theory you subscribed to.

Israel did not create Hamas. Israel allowed Hamas to grow and be created so Palestinians and continue to fight with each other (PLO/Hamas). Israel saw the opportunity and let the disease festered as it thought it would benefit them (it did not).

Hamas was created by Palestinians themselves and was voted into power by Palestinians themselves.

Israel only supported the Muslim Brotherhood who's a thorn to PLO. Hamas is the one that splintered away from Muslim Brotherhood and became its own entity in late 80s, and was voted to power by Palestinians themselves.

To say Israel created Hamas is an extremely misleading.

No it's not. Israel supported the Muslim Brotherhood in the 70s who is secular and also because they were against PLO. PLO has been continuously waging armed conflict against Israel. Hamas is a subset of Muslim Brotherhood that form their own entity in late 80s.

Hamas today is because Palestinians voted them into power. Israel does not mind control technology. Israel is not like Yuri from Red Alert 2.

At best you can say Israel let Hamas into power, but to say Hamas is created by Israel is misleading.
