There is simply too much food at buffets.
I stopped going to any buffet once I hit 40.

Even recently I went to Cameron and ate one of the steamboat dinner set, it was too much.
Set meal, not buffet.
Luckily most of the food in the set are vegetables.
For a set meal for 2 pax, they gave around 7 to 8 plates of food!!!
2 plates has meat and the rest was vegetables.

Struggling to finish really.

did u went to the organic steamboat shop?

Buffet places only worth going when its newly opened.

As time goes on, they can't maintain the quality, so you'll see them cut down on offerings; then you know they going to gg soon.

I generally don't go to buffets because you tend to get subpar food for the price you're paying. Only worth going if you haven't eaten for 3 days and want to fill yourself up for the next week.

Yes it should be either new or has a consistent stream of patrons. But nowdays even the usual hotels do not offer buffet when they dont have bookings. Unlike last time it is standard offering even for walkins.

Even with consistent stream of patrons, its not really worth it. The operator will definitely reduce cost over time cause its not sustainable.

The buffet business model is fundamentally flawed. You need to offer enough high value items to entice people, but also have enough interesting low value items that people will take instead. All the while managing the inventory to make sure it doesn't go to waste. Finding that balance is incredibly difficult.

I actually don't mind as I sometimes take only vegetables at chap fan shops.

Last Saturday my chap fan lunch was only RM4 for 3 vege dishes laugh.gif

The waning of hotel buffets kinda indicate that rising food costs coupled with reduced spending power were the reasons. The golden years of buffets were the 90s when maresia under atok was really prosperous. Good old days.

Waning? Are you sure? I didn't notice any waning during the last Ramadhan period with all the hotel buffets full house.
