Hi, I planning to get 5G router no contract plan. I see only UMobile/Celcom available in my area. I want to ask what's a good 5G router to get and if there's any compatabililty issue.

Got some

Mikrotik Chateau 5G AX
GL.iNET Spitz AX

Both won't fit in your budget though

It's just how 5G routers are, not cheap

Or open source modem on taobao with Quectel 5G module if you’re feeling adventurous tongue.gif

Got all the fine controls down to AT commands, but proceed at your own risk for this one if you want something that can last a bit since the 5G modem is not built onto the SOC

TP-Link 5G modem is not low-end at all.

In fact, it's one of the most well made 5G modem with proper stable firmware and proper cooling system for sustained performance.

ok, I'm looking at the prices on shopee. This TP-Link is like Rm 700, but in SG shopee, its's going for SGD 700. Why the huge difference in price?

Never own a mikrotik product before, don't mind it but the price looks like over Rm2.8k. Too high

Only choices for you are TP-Link X50 5G/NX510V or Chateau 5G.

All the other random OEM/5G modems can be had for cheaper but their software support will be crap.

TP-Link is already quite well sought after for their decent build quality and semi decent software, way past are the days of crappy software OOTB from TP-Link

As for why it’s more pricey, don’t think the X50 is officially available in SG, only X80. And priced higher when compared to Malaysia’s X50

But for the same NX510V, no idea. But if I had to wager a guess, TP-Link most likely gives their retailers/resellers globally different prices according to region, not a myth that some stuff in SG is more pricier when compared to Malaysia. Better economy region = higher prices tongue.gif
