Nope. But congrats, you got your first battle damage!
There ARE guitar painting services, but they are expensive and some might not do a good job. I'm sure some of our forum members can point you out to a good one.

But be brave....... check for major dents and more importantly, cracks. If there are cracks on the neck, it's usually VERY bad. But the major damage from a fallen guitar, are usually the neck area, so hold your breath, and check that area properly. If it's bad, you gotta send it to a luthier. Tham is highly recommended, but must know the extend of the damage....... and remember, they can cost alot.

But in all seriousness, very sorry for your guitar. Make SURE you get your "friend" to pay for the damages to make them know your serous and very PO'ed about the incident.

it was a concert day which every class has to perform. but the concert ended up a disaster cause the stupid student who control the volumes made a serious mistake. at the begining, the volume was loud, and we singing girlfriend(arvil lanvinge) and he lowered the volume until i cannot hear any music. so we were lost on stage, i holding the guitar, donno wat to do. we were suppose to win. but...........

Anyway, after 10mins, my friend accidentally dropped my guitar. i donno why he took it the first place. my brain went blank for that second. hearing the smash sound on the floor. it juz couldnt accept it,i look at it awhile, and zip it up in the bag. i ended up crying at home.

well thats the full story,

if i were just to do a spray job only, how much will it cost?
and is it possible to spray onli at 1 area or i gotta respray the whole thing?

How complex is the damage? Please take some pictures then we can evaluate.
Also, in the mean time, what model and finish is your guitar?

If its just a paint chip, in my opinion its not feasible to go all the way to respray it. However, based on your description, its more important to check for any serious damages like cracks or dents. Cracks on the neck are very serious damages and might cause severe injury if it were to snap (string tension are not exactly low). If its just minor dents around the body, worry not, most of our guitars have them anyway.
If its cracked neck you have, I'd suggest you sort it out with your friend. Get him to pay for it if you send it for repair.

If you need to find places to repair, look up the luthier thread which is pinned. Tham or Simon should be able to do the job, for a price of course.

for some reason i got the color blue in my head tongue.gif

and you can spray that small part, but it will stand out cos its never easy to match colors...
even if you manage to match it, you can still see the outline of where it was resprayed, like how oil drops look in water.

but forget about the respray, your main concern obviously is the neck.

Your picture link is broken. Get it from http://www.ibanez.com
And everyone is correct...... you'll have to repaint the ENTIRE guitar otherwise it'll stand out like a sore thumb.

looks like GRG170. Make it your project guitar. Spray it yourself using ordinary spray paint. You might end up with frankenbanez!

I think its more better and cheaper if u put sticker (Unless something is broken inside). Tell your friend to buy the sticker for you. I'm not sure if you can blame your friend, because it might have just been an accident he never thought could happen, if he is not a guitar player, most likely he would not know how to take care of a guitar and place the guitar in a way so that it wouldn't fall. But if he took your guitar without permission, for the fun of it, without permission, and he's a guitar player then he must be responsible for it. At least pay half for the recovery.

well, his not a guitar player. my head already want to Blow liao.
I watch the process of the guitar falling in front of my eye.

i would take to the shop first and see how lo.
if too expensive i think i go with sticker.

(and is it possible that the inside of the guitar is damage???(drop from chair)

i agree with the sticker suggestion. a gio is just a beginner's guitar. not worthed to spray the whole body. would probably cost around 300-500 or even more to airbrush the whole body.

spraying the dented part may work since yours is just black. just use spray can for cheaper option and some epoxy filler.

as with the others, the concern is the playability of the guitar. the electronics has little chance of dmg as they are inside the body. it's the neck. falling from a chair's height could seriously dmg the neck, even though you can't really see visible marks. there must be some after effect from the fall. check and double check. most likely you need to re-setup the guitar.

what, yngwie's too good for burgers now?

ongpohheng: if it's a relatively small ding, you could try masking it with black nail polish. it dries quick, and is glossy.

i think u r worrying too much ... since the neck n every other part is ok, just paint back that small chipped part in black la .. use permanent marker or something. from far when u're performing ppl won't realize anything wan ..

lagipun it's a GIO ibanez (not to put u down or anything) .. but next time when u get a better guitar u'll sure want to throw your GIO at the wall or something, or stage a drop from another chair again or something for ur GIO ... hehheehee..

But sometimes, cracked guitars actually sound better!
the guitarist for A Perfect Circle SWEARS by his broken neck Les Paul Standard and says "it sounds better when I accidentally cracked the neck one day." Zakk's infamous Bottlecapped Les Paul, Rebel, also has a broken neck, but he still absolutely loves that guitar and still says it's one of the better sounding Les Pauls he has..... now THAT guitar is throughly bruised and abused! Even set on fire!

I remember once I accidentally dropped my friend's MIM Telecaster and part of the wood chipped lol. He sent it to a luthier his dad happened to know and it was fixed (For a fee though, rm200+ iirc?). If it's just a ding/crack on the guitar, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Either way, stop talking to your friend. He'ill feel guilty in a week's time and voila, NEW GUITAR! xD
