「Sony Aquarium VR 黒潮の海」は、沖縄にある水族館「沖縄美ら海水族館」をPlayStation Home上に図面から再現し、VR空間として楽しめるようにしたもの。水槽には30種類に及ぶ海洋生物が登場。魚類や水槽に関しては「沖縄美ら海水族館」から監修を受け、ゲームなどを楽しみながら学べるラウンジとなる。

　魚の大きさはPlayStation Homeのアバターに対して実寸大で作られているため、水槽の外からでもジンベエザメやナンヨウマンタの大きさを実感することができる。

　さらに、PS3ならではの仮想体験の場として、魚と一緒に泳ぎながら写真撮影ができる「黒潮の海撮影ツアー」に参加できる。実際に水槽の中に入り、お題に従い撮影を行なう。撮影した写真はハードディスクにセーブできるのはもちろんのこと、成績に応じてポイントを獲得でき、獲得ポイントを使用することで、泳ぐ魚たちのフィギュアをもらうことができる「黒潮の海たまご」で記念品を入手することができる。こちらも実寸大で構成されているので、部屋に置くと迫力のある大きさとなる。

　ラウンジ内には自分だけの生物図鑑を作って閲覧することができる「黒潮の海生き物図鑑」が設置されている。ここにツアーで撮影した写真を保存すればするほど、魚類に関する情報が三段階で公開される。
