Hello, I've got a coffee machine with the cables color coded as in the picture. There are 3 Live, 1 Neutral and 1 Ground wire. My home power supply is a Single phase 220-240v with 1 Live, 1 Neutral and 1 Ground wires. Also in the picture is the coffee machine wiring diagram (circled in green) coincide with my home power supply type.

Question : how do I connect my coffee machine with 3 live wire to my home power supply which only have 1 live wire? Thank you!

From the coffee machine live wire code, i.e. Brown, black, grey. It looks like is a 3 phase machine which is contradicted with your circled wiring diagram of single phase.
Maybe can you snapshot the machine rating plate see its voltage and phases before conclude?
The power supply is single phase , separate switch/breaker? Got external photo?

Some appliances can be configured to run from 1-Phase or 3-Phase supply. Looks like the motor inside the unit is 3 phase motor obviously but can be configured to run on single phase. Just follow the wiring diagram.

I'm just curious why the 3 phase wire colors are not standard hmm.gif

My bad. It is the color used in UK and EU. I thought it is white but more like gray. smile.gif

3 lives wires r meant for 3 phase power supply. verify ur coffee mach is a 3 phase equipment.

connect to any 1 of the live wire, if ur using single phase.

still not sure? get a cert electrician. (k/tard said can afford expensive coffe machine cannot afford an electrician?)

I think the wiring diagram shows 3 wiring option depending on your power supply.

Here are the photos of the machine rating plate and power supply is a 20amp isolator direct from DB.

yes according to diagram the machine can be configured for either single or 3 phase. i am not really clear on how to read the wiring diagram supplied. should i connect only a single live wire (if yes, which color) or combine all 3 live wire?

Yes. Combine all Live wire together in this case according to diagram.

It is quite common for coffee maker. I read that one user did it that way. Two L wire will negate their phase and one of the wire will spin motor.

Look like the heater is 4.3kW. Just make sure you connect directly to 20A MCB, not the 13A socket there. I see you have your double pole switch already. thumbsup.gif

You cannot just connect just one of the L wire to run on single phase. It won't work that way. If the machine has no other alternative but must run on 3 phase, then you can buy a phase converter like this (just one example)

Thank you for your detailed response. I see on the wiring diagram it only stated the M (Brown color) to be connected to the Live power supply. There are 2 other wires beside it with no description but with a remark below stating jumpers are supplied. Just wanted to be absolutely sure before I attempt the connection - would combining 3 Live wires or even a single live wire causes any issue?

Pmax = 4.9KW, running it off on 240V will need about 21A. All homes the 13A socket are wired with 2.5mmsq cable rated at around 20A only.

You will need to have a 4.0mmsq cable directly connected to the coffee machine.
