Has anybody ever tried sound proofing noisy water pipes? Live in a condo, upstairs unit recently installed
some crazy water pump, now can hear water noises every time they use the bathroom. Their pipes are under my
plaster ceiling.

Never have the problem since not living in condo.

The condo above PVC piping can be seen in your house below and you conceal it with plaster ceiling?

The only way that I can think is try to use spray foam and spray it on the pipe to muffle the sound.

Typically the water pump should be after the water meter for a condo.

What water noise ?

Splashing water sound when taking bath or water draining noise from the waste pipe or water pipe hammering sound when the pump is turn on ?

Not all the pipes can be seen, just some that
handle drainage.

Yeah water draining noise, because the pipes that handle that are actually on my ceiling, then covered by plaster ceiling. Got water hammering sound to when water is used.

You can try to check with your one floor lower owner whether they face the issue when you are taking bath or better you listen and ask someone to take bath in your unit.

Some people can tolerate the noise while others may find it irritating.

As for the hammering sound, Idon't think anything can be done if is not happening non stop.

Yes, that exposed one is the one producing loud sound, not the one inside the concrete floor. You probably can experiment by wrapping it with something like foam rubber sheet or whatever that can be wrapped onto the piping itself to muffled the sound. See how much that will reduce the sound.

Yeah, it’s irritating. Wasn’t that loud before, I’ve checked with other neighbours, they don’t hear that kind of noise. These kind of water pumps really shouldn’t be allowed to installed at older condos.
