Unfortunately my Solar journey ends here . Click the spoiler to see pictures.

As per whatsapp from the solar company engineering team, my roof structure cannot support the weight of the solar panels

"Kayu ni boleh pecah kalau kita drill, bila da masuk L + railing + panel , possibility utk kayu tu mengepak dan pecah tinggi tu".

This means im stuck with a rm700+ tnb bill every month from now on
*
From the condition of your roofing, more less about time for change out also la. Better change out before a heavy storm and gust hit.

I suggest la you engage a good awning roofing contractor, they will help you redo these roofing with galvanized C channel. At that point also you tell them you need reinforcement for solar panel saja la. Usually they will do double back to back C channel to support the weight of these panel

Someone from kuching shared his experience that the handful of solar installers here in kuching have no business in doing residential solar project. Don't even know which inverter to buy.

Wait it out until west malaysia companies come to us. Fuck sarawak style and their slow ass adoption
*
Pasang sendiri saja, do grid interactive UPS style no export ok liao. I’m been enjoying close to 3 years already.

Actually in Kuching or Sarawak, their electric charges is still very very cheap. Like 30 cent per kWh at the highest rate. So there is little point going Solar there unless you are really a big consumption.
*
True also la, Sarawak has more than excess electricity if I recall correctly. But yea, if you say consistently above 600-1000, then it’s worth it la. My fren did check out one Gsparx and quoted 47k for 9.5kWp, 8kW inverter. I think it’s abit too expensive la. But Sarawak ba

Actually in Sarawak with 31.5 cent per kWh, it’s okay  to buy direct. And don’t need solar. Coz even if u use 2000 units, it’s just about rm600++. Here if use 2000 units, it’s about 1.3k.
*
Yea I guess Sarawak is really blessed then. Maybe people over there should adopt EV more la

i read from those angmo solar.

what impact the most of losses is the cable size.
*
If follow proper cable sizing, few meter is negligible la. Don’t skim on cable la, use good cable check correct gauge and use copper punya, don’t la buy mr diy cable

Currently doing my homework on getting a suitable system for my home. Just read through 5x pages of comments 😵‍💫 (bit pening kepala). House is 3 phase.

This is the setup i am looking to go with:

TRINA vertex 605W N-type Bi Facial x16
Hoymiles HMT 2000 4T x4

Am leaning towards the above microinverter type because the panels will have to be laid in 3 different direction - North, South & East.

Hopefully sifus can help explain the following which i still am not clear on:

#1
Is there such a thing as 1 phase / 3 phase for micro inverters? I read the thread that you can direct each micro inverter to a differece phase but if i have 4 microinverters - it means 1:1:2 setup? Any pros & cons to this?

Is hoymiles a goos brand? Asides from Hoymiles, any other recommended brands?

#2
What is clipping and the ideal ratio?
*
Macam tiada 3 phase micro inverter.

No need get biracial if you gonna put on roof, the other side basically shaded. Just get the mono facial enough. Bifacial also more fragile cuz both side also glass panel.

Better to have string inverter on single side. Next time you can upgrade inverter with battery storage option when your nem contract habis

That device is call a switch...  cool2.gif but it stops both incoming and outgoing. there is no 1 way flow valve for AC.

Haha.. anyway it is not so simple even if TnB main is switch off. The inverter of the common PV system is not that capable in balancing the output load to general household appliances.
It is very good in maximizing the solar power generation though.
That's why it is either compliment by our TnB feed or a battery system

Imagine there is no TnB and battery to buffer. So if you suddenly turn on aircond or the refrigerator compressor kicks in, the extra power draw will dip the voltage and cause trip.
The opposite is suddenly the sun is much brighter, the additional current may spoil your appliances.
*
Actually there are devices that can prevent export, but question is is the inverter support that function. There this split core CT and electric meter with modbus or serial communication

edit:
Actually, thanks for the Solis recommendation, I just noticed it is cheaper than Deye.....
*
Got cheaper meh? More less the same eh. I’m using deye single phase by the way, now wanna upgrade to 3 phase. All item arrived, but haish need to take leave to pasang

Deye SUN-12K-SG01LP1-EU

vs

Solis S6-EH1P12K03-NV-YD-L

hmm.gif

Solis seems to be more cost effective.
*
Hmmm I know why mine is cheaper dy, mine is 3 phase punya.

Solis price really attractive. I wonder is it the same as megarevo and some unbranded punya, or all come from the same factory.

Won’t la, else the TNG technician working outside will got electrocuted by your solar system. When the hz fall below certain frequency, solar inverter will cut off punya

I have a feel that TNB actually don’t want the power gen from Solar due to the supply demand mismatch, but gomen die die wanna roll out this hence Tnb is at the receiving end kena feed shiats. While still needed to run the generator to cope for the base load but there no demand during the peak sun time yet they are forced yo buy the power because of gomen initiative
