Can. But monitor your Tnb meter. If it is an old analogue meter, just on it. If it’s digital, then take note on the import if it double record.

QUOTE(WhitE LighteR @ Sep 1 2024, 10:02 AM) In the morning, when u switch on, the generation should cover your morning usage. Meaning that the import should not be increasing in value or it will increase very very slowly than usual. If u see it speed up increase, then better switch off. |

QUOTE(skywardsword @ Sep 1 2024, 05:18 PM) With smart meter they can tell got unauthorized export... Okie.... Not all digital meter is smart meter. Most that install using the nem3.0, using contractors, also have seda approval right? I should stop trying to find excuses, anyhow being patient is a virtue. Main problem is those secretly connect without applying for NEM. Some don’t record export. Those u can on at your own risk for self consumption. If u check ur meter, it doesn’t have the 51 reading, most likely no export record. skywardsword liked this post

QUOTE(WhitE LighteR @ Sep 2 2024, 11:42 AM) Quite surprised that it's not that far off from a 9.68kwp with 8kw inverter system. You got a chart of production throughout the day for good n bad days? Different setups. Different roof orientation. It’s difficult to compare head to head with the figure. Lots of factors influencing the output. |

QUOTE(manx @ Sep 3 2024, 10:31 AM) So, after seeing some feedbacks on microinverter setups, are there any suggestions on either single-phase or three-phase microinverter is better to use on three-phase house? Is the power export based on load per phase?? Does it mean, I may be exporting power because the generated power being connected on different phase while consumption at different phase? Or the import/export meter will be smart enough to calculate? Hmt is more sensitive to grid outage. Hms is better in this sense. Not much different except for the MPPTs.. HMS comes with 4 MPPTs while HMT only 2MPPTs. Also maybe HMT has better load optimization. |

QUOTE(cdspins @ Sep 3 2024, 11:53 AM) It is of course better to use 3-phase microinverter if possible because it is more balance and future proof once the NEM lapse. Exactly. As load is different for the phases, it’s better to use single phase inverters so that you can add in the future to the phase you need to use more. For example, my ev charging phase is hook up with more inverters than the other phases. So it can fully offset the usage without triggering import when I charge in the morning. On another note. The smart meter by TnB does not calculate per phase, but the overall. My understanding based on 3 phase string inverter is that it will output the electricity to 3 phase equally, but load in our housewhole is not equal, so in the end some phase maybe exporting while other phase maybe importing but the TnB meter will record the total of 3 phase. It will not show individual phase load or generation. |

QUOTE(mrstohchu @ Sep 3 2024, 12:13 PM) Installer said, for my situation, it's because that microinverter signal couldnt reach the DTU so no data sent. It is actually still working. In other words, DTU displays real time data. So anything that signal couldnt send through, data will not be captured. Meaning that the yield i see on the app will be lower than what my system is actually generating. Actually dtu will get back the previous data thst is not transmitted. I have moved my DTU to a more central location yesterday. Today seems better, no more offline issue. Still monitoring. There wasnt much info on HMT available online so it was a judgement call to go w HMT. Figured might as well go 3phase to 3phase. Must be a reason they came out w 3phase, if not could have just offered 1phase solution for all if they both work the same. I dont mind the additional safety features, to me, better be safe than sorry. If you dont mind me asking - what kind of anticipated issue? Mine's 2.5 storey and i have panels on both 2nd and 3rd storey roof... So let’s say if u off ur dtu, ur system should work and then once the dtu connects to the inverter, it will sync back the lost data. mrstohchu liked this post

QUOTE(meors @ Sep 3 2024, 03:23 PM) Both can. But preferably hms. 3 independent system is way better than 1 integrated one. If u check hoymiles website, it says both can. This is what hoymiles said about hms. “Yes, you can either choose our HMT-2250 high-powered three-phase microinverter or use our single-phase products to form a three-phase system.“ If I am not mistaken , microinverter is designed to be single phase. But this single phase is For single and three phase houses. But overtime, for large scale projects like factories, they come out with three phase. To make installation easier for installer. But like any other three phase inverters, they are more sensitive to grid voltage, frequency and one of them goes offchart, the setup will shutdown completely. As for hms, they are independent of each other, so one problematic phase will not affect the generation of other microinverter in other phases. Less downtime. |

QUOTE(manx @ Sep 3 2024, 04:38 PM) based on the datasheet, HMT even though for 3phase, but it is more suitable for commercial/industrial applications. Correct. Go for hms series. You will benefit more especially if u have ev later. U can add more micro to thst phase or reroute one or two micro to that phase if the usage is big. |

QUOTE(BaRT @ Sep 3 2024, 04:18 PM) really?? Dtu offline, the data can’t go to the cloud. But it doesn’t affect the import export. Coz dtu is wireless and does not connect to the Tnb meter.coz my neibour say if the dtu offline, tnb meter will not count your export. And it has happened to him. gobiomani liked this post

QUOTE(cdspins @ Sep 3 2024, 06:07 PM) I'm not too sure if we are on the same page. Oh. I mean after nem.but even Now it will be useful to avoid the icpt charges. For those that borders the 1500kwh.But I don't think the TNB meter calculate each phase individually, even if you charge your EV in the phase that has now solar generation and if importing but if your net electricity usage is lower than generation, it will still consider as export. That is what I think |

QUOTE(g0lightly @ Sep 3 2024, 06:07 PM) All of the components, DTU connection, daisy chain connection, connectors, zero accessibility to rooftop, 3 storey that requires skylift, it’s just my own evaluation I don’t like uncertainties. But I do recognize the advantages of the technology and dc conversion and decentralisation Actually, accessibility to rooftop is always the problem for solar users irregardless of any system. Problems with solar can range from connectors, cables panels and inverter, and most of the time it requires skylift if the roof is inaccessible. So to me I feel it’s important to find installers who are willing to cover the skylift and labour under their maintenance warranty. For my case specifically, the installer promised 6 years of free maintenance including all the cost of skylift. I do notice that There are some thst offer 10 years on labour, but exclude skylift. Which is also okay. So it’s important to check what they offer after installation too. meors liked this post

QUOTE(BaRT @ Sep 4 2024, 10:35 AM) Guys, there’s one thing I want to understand. Let’s say my solar panels generate 300 kWh during the afternoon. The energy generated will feed my grid first for my own consumption, right? If I only consume 200 kWh during the afternoon, the remaining 100 kWh will be exported. Correct. Tnb meter will only measure what is sent out. Unlike Fit setup, which record every drop of kwh u get from the sun.So, my question is, will the TNB bill show an export of only 100 kWh instead of 300 kWh? If yes, this mean TNB bill export information reflect the net amount, not the total energy generated from the solar power. Am I right? |
