Both equally good for travelling, but i would lean towards the r50.

But Canon's 35mm lens is so expensive compare to Sony's 35mm(RM2000 vs RM1300).

The reason I choose 35mm instead of 50mm is because 50mm is way too tight on a cropped sensor.

i would agree with you 35mm is more versatile.

The downside of maintaining multiple system, the lenses will kill you x2.

It will come down to which system you will be using in the future for you to decide which lens to invest in.
