Finally able to dl the new beta fw. Going to test it later in the evening to see its performance for BD ISO. Shall do a review after that (to poison others) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Installed and tested. Good news and bad news abt new fw Good news : » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Lossless audio pass through DTS HD MA Dolby TrueHD This is one major disadvantage of PS3. Bad news : » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The 100 playbacks counter. Wonder if there is any way to disable it This post has been edited by htkaki: Apr 4 2009, 09:44 PM

hehe.... found a way to disable the counter. Tks a lot to andyz for the tip! Now, I don't have to worry abt it. Watched Transformers. Very satisfying to see my 1800 with the wording 'Dolby TrueHD' on its panel On another note, this player sounds a lot better than WD HD TV (yeah.. I am crap since comparing to the highly affordable WD HD TV )

Not at all for most of the m2ts and BD ISO. Only a selected few titles have problem (judder and skip scenes).
On my screen, I can see that it detects 1080P 24fps. Smooth as butter (borrow phrase from ar188) for the rest of my collections.

Most of it pop up with the ori BD menu. Only a few with BDLite menu. That's not really important to me as to which pop-up menu. As long as it has one for convenience. The major 'wow' factor to me is the audio

QUOTE(rx330 @ Apr 6 2009, 09:03 AM) wdtv still the better player la anyway, tis are all played with iso or bdmv folder? In terms of value-for-money, I have no qualm that WDTV is the best. You are getting yours today Both since I have BD ISO and BDMV.

with Dvico, sibeh convenient. No need to go to my PS3 and load other BD. Everything just store in HDD. Kaotim. Now, trying to stream video to master room and living room from my HT room. Next, stream audio to other rooms.
In USA, this is nothing new. For elite, they store thier collections into Kaleidescape media servers.
Home automation is the way to go (provided if you have deep pocket).

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Apr 23 2009, 02:02 PM) ^ Nevermind..so you buying the 6500A since u'r old one konk already? I guess the only appealing thing about the 6500 is the ability to play Blu-ray rips.. ^htkaki : they quoted me RM1530 (credit card price) yesterday. Still thinking if I should buy it...is it worth spending RM 1530 just to see the words "Dolby True-HD" appear on the receiver? That's good price. For me, the Dvico 6500 meet my requirements. Not only the magic audio wordings but cost efficiency too (if you know what I mean by it )

I guess YB RX's 4100 display could cost an arm and leg to replace. It does take a longer time than expected, aint it? So long in ICU.
I have yet to update the new firmware for my 6500. Maybe tomorrow.

QUOTE(rx330 @ Jun 3 2009, 11:03 AM) htkaki, u go give dog fark Mark my word. They ll tell you that it cost RM400-500 to repair your display panel. You will ended up repairing other things except this. Anyway, you can live without it YB, this 4100 downgrade to living hall and partner with your plasma tv lah. Then, buy 6500 or others for your current shagpad.
