QUOTE(ryder_78 @ Sep 24 2023, 09:35 AM) I am looking to purchase a new flagship phone launched 9 months ago (now obsolete). It comes in 4G only. Any prediction when 4G will be supported until it is completely phased out. Will 4G be supported for at least 5 years from now. If companies plan to stop providing support for 4G network within 1 to 2 years I'll have to consider a 5G phone instead. Technically 2G shall be phased out first before 4G. Should be more than 5 years.

QUOTE(ryder_78 @ Sep 24 2023, 11:19 AM) Thanks for all responses. That is surely useful to know. I'm only looking at flagship phones and not budget phones as my priority is the camera performance, and only flagship phones have the best cameras. The price of flagship 4G phones are currently significantly lower than flagship 5G phones so there's the advantage for me. For instance the Huawei Mate 50 Pro which was launched just 9 months ago at RM5.2k has now dropped to about RM3.6k. I was kinda surprise when you said flagship phone without 5G. 5G is not really a big concern but i personally wont buy a phone without GMS. I have used Huawei phone without GMS before, the app store is still limited and it even redirect me to questionable app store like apk pure to side load app from unknown sources which prone to malware. And there is lack of security patch for security attacks.

QUOTE(ryder_78 @ Sep 24 2023, 02:08 PM) I was concerned on latest Huawei phones not having Google services as well but was informed that there are now access to download Google apps. Will need to verify this though. You can use it as web app means from browser no need to install app. ...
