Hi,
Any idea in getting '12v 300Ma' or 0.3a charger ?

Have a lead acid battery that requires this charging specification.
Tried 1a charger which dries out battery, added distilled water 2x.
Yuasa charger would cost over RM200+ which is too costly.

just get those RC charger imax B6 can charge many types of battery with customer charge/discharge rate
*
+1 Thank you for introducing this device.

QUOTE(alexei @ Sep 21 2023, 07:36 AM)
need to lower the charging voltage and reduce the cutoff time
*
Did 6V 10A but battery would not charge up to its capability and required state.

QUOTE(yhsiau @ Sep 21 2023, 02:26 PM)
Can use 1a charging voltage but need to shorten charging time.. e.g 1 hour only.
*
Even tried 30 minutes to prevent over heating and 2 hours because 1 hour did not charge up (as above)

QUOTE(paskal @ Sep 21 2023, 07:57 PM)
If lower the charging voltage it might not even charge properly. All battery need a certain amount of voltage to get the charge going.
Smart chargers can charge multiple battery type.
Those imax b6 can charge lead acid. But it won't do trickle charging and will stop after a certain current level is reached.
*
+1 Appreciate you share your experience. Unable to trickle charge & auto stop.

Anyone would like to recommend supplier for Imax B6 charger, feel free to PM me. I will be shopping for one. I seen ecommerce offer them, but I prefer to support your supplier to thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Planning to drain, flush, replenish sulfur into battery but first looking for affordable charger.

Please don't. I've tried refurbishing lead acid batteries that can't hold charge with multiple method.

Bought plate cleaning solution. Bought de-scaling liquid.
Played with high concentration sulphuric acid.
Tried multiple charging method. High current high voltage pulse charging, refresh charge, trickle charge, overcharge, over voltage etc etc.

Waste of money and not consistent result.
Will not prolong the longevity of the batteries by much.
Better to just trade in the battery and get a new one. Safer than playing with sulphuric acids and you'll get a guaranteed high current output.

Trust me I have equipment to test the batteries before and after.
Waste of time and money.
Cheers

Thank you for sharing your experience.
The method of dealing with battery that you used, is it listed online or youtube? Can share the links?
Much appreciated.

Gosh, I hope you know what you're doing

Thank you.
I don't know what I am doing.

QUOTE(yhsiau @ Sep 23 2023, 11:09 PM)
Overcharging the battery can cause battery plates corrosion.. which decreases the battery performance & health.
Swapping acid wont improve your battery conditions.
I m in the car battery industry for quite some time.. those battery revitaliser is an overrated scam.
If u insist on swapping out the acid, u need to look for sulfuric acid density rating at 1.25sg. Good luck.
*
+1 Thank you for sharing your experience. I shall avoid revitaliser.
I am looking for sulfuric from retail supplier, after investing in charger.

I searched to trade in this battery but no one wants. So left to dump it or recondition it.

QUOTE(sakaic @ Sep 30 2023, 12:50 AM)
Maybe describing the problem with your battery would help us give better advice. There is a possibility that one of the cells are shorted and causes constant charging at high amps. Do you have a way to measure the voltage of the battery?
*
The battery failed, then left unattended for long time.
Recently charged it, it boiled, added distilled, now looking for 0.3A charger.
Then likely looking for sulfuric acid from retail supplier.

QUOTE(Nightstalker1993 @ Sep 30 2023, 05:16 AM)
So had you bought a charger yet?
*
No. This is a side project while Lazada wasting my time.

Thank you for sharing in the other comment.
They look cool but cost a lot.

For 200 budget, maybe get a SMR (small modular reactor) instead.
Then more research required.

What's the voltage when you stop charging? Does it end up being about 10v?
*
Now that you asked I do not remember. I did recall seeing previous charge went beyond 10v.

May I know what exact model of the battery it is?

What makes you think of reconditioning it when the cost of buying a new is a lot cheaper i guess?
*
GS GTZ4V 12V 3Ah (10hr)

Bought a new one, cost over RM120, if memory serves.
The second one did not last as long as GS.
Third one cost over RM210, if I recall. This one is lasting.
Instruction is to add distilled after 15 months but no indication of volume.

I dont know if recond is cheaper or not.

Eventually, the battery needs to be recharge or landfill.
LYN lots of 20k salary would not waste time or care about eco.
But for the few who comment and guide me - Thank you.

Probably IMAX B6 charger, from Cindy's in Kepong, about RM80+
Then a clamp meter from Mr.DIY RM32
Bought Aneng ST180 at 26, claim manufac warranty, but Lazada refuse to refund.
Now learning to use PGmall and Mudah.my

Still searching for sulphur. Its a side project and can only look into this when time permits.

Get yourself a bench power supply. Can supply what ever rate that you want.

Just don't leave it alone as it might damage your battery.

I have one, use it to charge many kind of battery.  thumbup.gif

+1 Thank you for this recommendation.
A bench power unit is costly.

QUOTE(yhsiau @ Oct 13 2023, 02:14 PM)
1 thing I want to point out -
For vehicles lead acid battery, the recommended charging voltage range is 13V(min) - 14.5V(max).
*
+1 Thank you. I notice lead acid battery can apply different charging techniques.
Such as pulse charging, high amp charge and trickle charge. I was looking to trickle charge.

QUOTE(genesiscopy @ Oct 13 2023, 06:59 PM)
I have a Bosch C3 since my bike always failed to start after a weekend. Then when i bring my bike for service the mechanic say either i got a fake yuasa battery or something is wrong elsewhere.

Turns out the headlamp bulb is draining the power preventing cranking up the engine. Changed that and Bob's your uncle.

But i still changed the battery anyways.
*
+1 Thanks for sharing.

In the end, I opt for an IMAX B6 v2 charger.
I could not find battery acid at reasonable price.
I abandon the project, salvage acid into another battery.

The bench charger was the best tool but the cost exceed a new battery.
Now that battery is dried out useless.

Thank you all for your input and thoughts.

Buy this, power it with a 5V1A (5W) charger/powerbank that's widely available and cheap,
the output will meet your 0.3a requirement.

Thank you
I browse cannot find how the charger enables setting between the 3 modes.
The promo price is 162 exclude shipping, very costly to getting it wrong.

It's automatic based on input power.

That's why I mentioned, use 5A1A USB phone charger.

Plenty old charger are this specs.

Thanks.
I google "charger 5A1A" but no clear result.
