I went to home fair few days ago to start survey on aircon to be installed in my new condo house. But, there are too many brands in the market and I do not know how to make decision which brand to go for. Do you have any recommended brand? I'm looking for non-inverter aircon.

Below are my survey price from different brand for non-inverter aircon:

Midea has the highest cooling capacity, energy efficiency and CSPF, and given the price is the lowest too. By looking at EER of 11.8, it tells us that for every 1W of energy they provide to the aircon, the aircon will give us 11.8 BTU of cooling effect, which is highest compared to other brands. Can I just go for Midea brand?

If not, what other things do I need to consider and double check? Usually first year is free labour for all brands? Do I need to compare airflow, noise level and running current (A)?

I'm just judging from the facts. I would to hear your opinion, which brand is more reliable, can give fast cooling and energy efficient?

If you're concern of the electricity bill, get a 5-star inverter A/C, it saves money in the long run. Not to mention inverter A/C provides constant temperature and quieter compressor too.

Many buyers look for specs when buying an air cond. No doubt is important.

Eventually also many people forgot or save on maintenance after installation.

A poorly maintained AC is no better than a cap ayam brand.

Why not inverter? If you use often, cost savings over 3-5 years do add up. Inverter cooling comfort much better rather than binary "too cold" or "too stuffy" like all the old office buildings' NON aircons.

Unless this is for guest room that only runs 1 week in a whole year - then get a NON

Heard from salesman said, if not heavy usage on aircon, let say only turn on less than 6 hours everyday, you won't see any difference on inverter aircon. Do we have any facts on this?

Salesman haven't kena RM900 billshock from NON aircon running 24/7 during MCO
With inverter, can afford brows.gif

You calculate based on facts "ST sticker" kwh rating. It is VERY CHEAP to operate an INV at night/before dawn when the room has ALREADY cooled down. The heat delta to cool down is very small. Why sacrifice comfort for few cents?

Roughly how much can we save if turn on aircon average 8 hours daily for using inverter AC? by percentage roughly? how do we calculate?

Let’s say 1hp of air conditioner having 860W rated power consumption, and based on reality scenario, assume that we will turn on the air conditioner every day for 8 hours and turn on 30 days per month.

0.86kW x 8 hours x 30 days= 206.4 kWh

First 200 kWh = 200 kWh x 21.80 cents = RM 43.60

The balance 6.4 kWh = 6.4 kWh x 33.40 cents = RM 2.1376

So total will be RM 45.7376 per month

If using inverter, it will cost roughly how much on monthly electricity bill? Can we get RM20 per month?

Save by 40-50% IRL based on kWh units. Won’t want to go into TNB stepping as usual usage alr 300 units.

https://www.daikin.com/air/daikin_techknowl...0ON%20and%20OFF.
Here claim 58% savings on synthetic benchmark.

Here claim half savings. ROI 2-3 yrs.

I heard that most 5 stars 1hp inverter would only consume 70kwh per month based on 8 hours daily usage at 26 degree, which translates to RM15.20 per month just for aircon. Does that sounds reasonable?

Yes correct about there. Assuming no excessive elements such as superheated west-facing wall etc.

Calculation of cost is a headache because u need to know your baseline as TNB stepping goes by usage. I would estimate based on the 51c tier rather than the 0.218/0.338 tiers since your non-aircon usage has to go somewhere.

It is not always accurate. Do notice that the cooling performance is rated when the machine is new. Just like after you do a clean wash, the a/c will feel less cool but it is actually doing its job at best performance. However as dirt accumulate, the cooling performance will deteriorate but the a/c would feel much colder. However in reality, it would be consuming more power than usual.

On those days with hot spell, it would also consume much more electricity.

Was looking at the appliances at this brand. But the after sales service tends to be on the bad side. Not sure if there are experienced user here to share some thoughts.
