Hi guys,
I will be getting unifi 2gbps package. Anything i should be concerned about this package? (using cable 6 is ok?)
Should i use the modem/router comes with the package or should i get a better quality mode/router for this? I am a gamer, 90% of the time i will be using LAN, but i want the WIFI connection to be as stable quality as possible (double storey house) Thanks.

QUOTE(yenchenje @ Nov 14 2023, 04:53 PM) Unless you want to get into GPON SFP+ ONU, using the stock D-Link ONR is the only choice you have. Or you can place it into Bridge mode but you’ll be limited by the 1Gbps LAN port on the ONR. So it’s best to still use the original ONR and take advantage of the WiFi 6 signal to reach beyond 1Gbps if that’s what you’re after. Stable WiFi quality wise I can’t comment much as I’m currently using my own EAP670 but from other Ktards here, their EasyMesh seems fine for a 2 story house but your mileage may vary from your house to theirs ofc Would like to double confirm, if using the stock D-Link ONR, can i get the speed more than 1gbps (or reach the highest speed 2gbps) with LAN connection? Thanks. QUOTE(enduser @ Nov 14 2023, 08:28 PM) U got time to learn? Worth looking if ur into it https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4925452Thanks bro. I think i will skip this as i don't want to take any risk.

QUOTE(yenchenje @ Nov 15 2023, 06:11 AM) No, unless you’re gonna be using LACP, which is also not true 2Gbps QUOTE(BladeRider88 @ Nov 15 2023, 08:36 AM) Sorry to burst your bubble the stock d link ONR will only bring you up to max 1G connection, you will never achieve true 2G download speed with it If you don't intend to switch to SFP+ solution, it is fine but you need to lower down your expectation So with the stock d-link, LAN = won't be more that 1 gbps, but wireless can be more than 1gbps? No 3rd party modem/router (without the need to do special adjustments) can help to achieve more than 1gbps download speed for LAN connection? Thanks!

QUOTE(Oltromen Ripot @ Nov 15 2023, 06:24 PM) ... yeah, if you manage to replicate the ideal test lab conditions that resulted in it getting AX3000 rating QUOTE(yenchenje @ Nov 15 2023, 06:37 PM) If you somehow live in a place with 0 wireless interference then maybe, but in real world, unlikely I have an AX5400 Enterprise grade AP and I can’t pull anything more than 600-700Mbps on my iPhone 15 Pro. If you want to save cost without the feeling of getting fake 2Gbps, just go for 1Gbps. You’re a gamer which you’ll only benefit from faster downloads speeds and low latency. You can get more than 1Gbps on wireless but gaming on wireless is not something that you want to do right? And via LAN you can only pull at most 940Mbps under ideal conditions In conclusion, save the extra money for 2Gnps or wait until TM is not stingy enough to give a ONU/ONR with 2.5Gbps port. But hey your money your rules. That’s just where I’m coming at with a 1Gbps plan, yes I’ll get upgraded to 2Gbps for free next year and I’m willing to go the SFP GPON ONU route, but you don’t want that which you’ll just be paying TM extra for not much utilization Thanks for the info guys! I will take the 1gbps for now. Thanks.
