Guys, need your opinion.

I'm a Unifi 500mbps user and received the free 800 Mbps upgrade recently as well. Upon running speed tests across multiple devices (phone, laptop, and desktop PC), the WiFi speed is consistently topping at 200+ Mbps.

The TM technicians came to my house and checked after I phoned to TM for assistance. They commented that the Deco M5 mesh router and satellite may not be up to to task to reach higher speed so they suggested upgrading the router instead, say something like a new WiFi 6 router.

The router used to be able to hit 300-400 Mbps when it was bought new but not sure why it couldn't reach higher speed anymore. Is router deterioration a thing? (Edit: I tried rebooting and resetting the whole damn thing, problem remains the same)

My main concern is that the internet DL speed could still be low after changing to a new mesh router. Do you guys think new router is warranted? This is because I don't feel it's fair that I'm paying for a 800 Mbps service but only getting 30% of the internet speed I paid for. Might as well downgrade to 300 Mbps instead if I'm only getting 200 Mbps consistently?

I'm also looking at Deco X60 mesh router packs. What do you guys think about it? I'm living in a 2-storey house. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know as well.

Better downgrade to 300m/500m since 800m is very hard to achieve with wifi5 or even wifi6 over walls

"TM AS4788 had recently installed RPKI validator and will be dropping the “Invalid” route by November 2023. Please update your ROA accordingly."

https://ipinfo.io/AS4788/42.188.192.0/19

Now, which tool is giving the correct result for UNIFI-HOME AS4788 with the prefix 60.50.0.0/32?

Both tools are correct. There are 2 parts to RPKI:
1. Prefix owner to publish and sign ROA
2. Service provider who reject invalid ROA

TM did the first part. It means if somebody tried to hijack TM prefix, any ISP that reject invalid ROA will not accept the prefix announcement.
Currently TM didn't do the second part. It means if somebody hijack Amazon DNS (AWS Route53) to hijack your crypto account, TM will gladly route you to the fake prefix.

Read more here: https://www.internetsociety.org/blog/2018/0...-53-bgp-hijack/

All BGP operators must implement both to be considered secure. Everybody must do it.

November has come and gone. The test shows TM haven't rollout the changes.

1. use android phone install Net Analyzer, see how many networks are now overlapping your signal, routers can dynamically change the band if set on AUTO. Too many networks on the same band will result in interference and lower speed. Change to different band and try it out.

2. ALL devices at home speedtest to main node maxes at 200+mbps?

3. The thing is your phone, tablets dont need 800mbps at all, maybe for desktop / laptop doing downloads of huge files. By changing your line to 300mbps u r capping your entire house to 300mbps, every one shares that limit. If u keep 800mbps more devices can get 300mbps by themselves, more bandwidth to share. if u get what i mean

4. i do not know because i use Asus mesh setup and they are consistent even after 3 yrs, I can still get 500mbps on a cheapo AC RT66u.
*
1. I installed Network Analyzer already. How do i know which one is overlapping network? I'm looking at Wi-Fi signal and I saw there are 12 networks including mine and most likely, neighbors.

2. Yes. All of them showing 180-220 mbps on Speed Test. All connected through WiFi with only the desktop connecting via LAN to the Deco M5 satelite.

3. Understood. There are times when I'm streaming and gaming, other members would be on their phones and netflix. So yeah, more bandwidth will be good.

1. Locate your Wifi name and see the graph chart, see how many networks are overlapping your network channel, is there any channels which are lesser overlaps, maybe can manually switch to that channel via your router config page.

This is more of a hypothetical situation. If I'm moving to an existing house, and was able to convince the previous resident to keep their Unifi connection (to avoid the "no ports" issue), how easy is it to transfer ownership to my name? Assuming the previous homeowner's contract has ended, will I be subjected to a 2 year contract?

Transfer of ownership is very easy, both owner can be present at Tmpoint and complete the transfer within 5 minutes. As for the contract, I am not sure.

Might be because deco M5/M9 overheating (ipq4019 40nm tends to overheating so much especially in small body plus quad core cortex a7 1.0ghz is not very powerful )

Ipq4019 is easily got beaten by broadcom 28nm bcm675x family (3/4 core a7 at 1.5/1.7ghz)

Upgrade to at least x50/x60/x68/XE75 should be great for regain the speed (x50/60 if plan to downgrade to 300m or 500m, otherwise better to choose XE75 or X95)

Been reading this threat for few months now. just got the time to go TM Point 2 hours ago to change my unifi plan. i walked in without any port out request from competitor.

the plan i used previously was 500mbps (turbo upgrade 2018) with unifi tv - rm169 exlc tax. recently free upgrade to 800mpbs for same price and tv package. Im the only user so i dont need 800mbps
Current SWU 3.0 Offer :-

1) 100mbps rm89, free 6 months bill. no equipment. 24 months contract

2) 500mbps rm119, free 6 months bill. Wifi 6 mesh. 24 months contract

Conditions :-

1) must be free of contract. 6 months and below can try. 1 year and below can apply to be considered by HQ.

2) cannot already on a SWU plan (any).
i took 2nd option. she also mentioned a package lower than 100mbps but i stopped her as i wasnt interested. when inquired about 300mbps, she said it is now called 500mbps since the free upgrade is perpetual (forever). there are also SWU plans higher than 500mbps and with tv combos. go walk in to a tm point.

arranged for the technician to come fix the hardwares yesterday. he had only fibrehome devices left, Dlink habis, so no choice. received two fibrehome mesh wifi 6 AX3000, model SR1041F. speed test on my honor view20 phone infront of the device achieved 500mbps over wifi.

I logged into my unifi selfcare. Plan name changed to - Unifi 500Mbps - Home BB staywithUnifi 3.0 (M6)

Considered cheap already. Even time 500Mbps plan promo price at rm99 for 6 months only with online sign up free 1 month then revert back to normal price of rm139.

DFS Channels, reserved for radar but shared with wifi as well

If its on first boot/change, it might be waiting a few minutes to check the conditions before begining broadcasting
if it's been a while, maybe it detected interfereance and auto changed to other channels

Personally I prefer to avoid those channels whenever possible

Then no choice. Need to choose between (149-153-157-161) although will overlap with others 5ghz

this is why access points with 5GHz SSIDs aren't immediately available in the first few minutes, as it adopts a strategy to listen for any potential radar transmission first before staying on DFS or vacating to non-DFS channels. it will continue vigillance for any radar interference and once detected, it will vacate again.

Change your listing strategy, RM170 change to RM90. In the description you may state RM90 for one, RM170 for both, adjust as you see fit. The important thing is the price that appears on the listing must be below RM100 so people will actually take a look at it. You may also remove the '(2 units)' in your title if you like. You do not have to sell both together, you can try to sell separately. I sold mine separately.
