Nice, so only can link at 8Gbps? How's the setup? Cards, SFP+ etc?
*
No it links at 10G just my max throughput i only reach around 8G. Connect X2, SFP+ RJ45 transceivers (cant remember which brand). When i did the test i was considering putting my PC in the storeroom next to my networking stuff direct connect with DAC but then i got 8G with cat 5e i was like ok i dont need to do that anymore LOL.

T&C already explicitly mentioned Perpaduan does not get speed upgrade.
So rolling back is also within TM's prerogative, the same like those SWU sign ups after 4th also up to TM's prerogative to get FSU2023.

Same like 2Gbps also excluded. If there is a 2Gbps out there suddenly get a speed upgrade, I will flip table mengamuk wehh....

Upgrade to what? Direct connection to Fahmi bum

They still undecided yet whether to upgrade 1 Gbps or 2 Gbps. Because technically 800 Mbps is 1 Gbps but because of the limitation back then, the speed was set to 800 Mbps
*
Wish they would make their minds up and disclose it. But they will upgrade 1G to 2G, 2G stays, if they gonna upgrade 800 to 2G also then who gonna occupy 1G plans LOL ...i think they will do 800 to 1G

What is a good brand LAN cable for 100-500Mbps around 30m?
*
Tbh anything from Shopee now will do larh most are already Cat5E/6 anyway. Personally not a fan of flat cables, i did buy loads of them from SubTel for patch panel, for regular brand, i actually kinda like Ugreen cables.

Only issue for me is that most of these bigger brands dont have ultra short ethernet cables for patch panel, idk if i should just reterminate premade ones to shorter length

QUOTE(enixcv123 @ Oct 18 2023, 09:42 PM)
guys, quick question on the lan cable.
I bought a 50m long Cat6 cable 3 years back from subtel, that time was thinking to pull the cable but somehow i didnt do it and at the end it keeps in my storage, today i take it out and wanted to try the speed but it somehow capped at 100mbps, could it be due to the cable too long or probably the wire were dmg (but it's actually never been used before).

Should i cut it off and place a new rj45, any suggestion?
*
50m ready made one? Or you terminate yourself?

Yup. So far, we have:

1. User got 2nd time of free upgrade.
2. Order page doesn't show the new plan name correctly
3. Eligible banner still unchanged after free upgrade completed.
4. Not all SWU 3.0 RM119 users got 2 free routers.
5. Some user received upgrade complete message, but the speed is still remain unchanged.
They really totally fuck up. devil.gif

QUOTE(RViN @ Oct 20 2023, 08:00 PM)
Having a 2.5Gbps WAN port won't matter right? Because the shit device that they're giving is limited to 1Gbps LAN port.

So from the ONR(1gbps) to for example my AC86U (2.5Gbps) the link will still be 1Gbps.
Thing is, you don't need an expensive enterprise solution do you?

Already so many mid range routers have 2.5G WAN ports, I have one too but seems like I won't be able to use it and will be limited by some shit router that TM selects for me and forces me to use.

You're talking as if you need a Bugatti as a pre-requisite to drive on the highway, but a Civic which plenty of people have will do, and TM is giving us an Axia and saying shut up and be happy.

Anyway one thing which isn't clear from reading the 1gbps/2gbps package FAQ document ... is it even an option to set their shit ONR into a bridge mode? They may be providing a locked down firmware that won't allow it. Have you checked on your side considering you have the 2Gbps package?

Only way is to use the SFP method for now

Yes, get 2.5G wan port is for future proof, so if newer unit give 2.4G lan port, no need buy another new router la.

Might as well get something with 10G straight

Care to explain?

I dont see how SFP fits in here.

If a 2.5G wan port is already enough why go for SFP?

Also the ONR they're providing doesn't have SFP ports. I'm confused.
*
Its replacing their whole ONR, go see another thread on Networks and Broadband by Anime3000 i think

Ah ok.

So to properly use what we get, we need to pay TM for the shit ORT (RM188 or new 24 months contract), then buy a SFP converter + an actual proper router to replace the ORT.

And this needs a wifi setup that's separate but I guess we will all have that already so that cost doesn't need to be factored in.

Dunno to be happy or sad, "free" speed upgrade gonna result in large cost increase to use properly biggrin.gif
I guess when TM schedules the upgrade I'll have to have a think about this. Ideal would be letting me downgrade and pay less since I don't really use the 800Mbps download much these days anyway, though I could use better upload speeds. But we all know they're not going to allow that at all or make it easy.
*
Well its only really for people who care for the full 2G speed

thumbup.gif  still my dream, for now settled down with 2.5Gbps home networking & WiFi 6... maybe in next 5 years can upgrade to 10Gbps and/or SFP  sweat.gif

If i am not mistaken in general 2.5G equipment is more expensive than 10G ones at least the ones i have seen.
