so many questions on speed after upgrades, new router, new eqpt, etc.. n i m a little confused or maybe out of date on wifi tech...?

will be good if u or other gurus can u help clarify:

assuming proper modem, premium router, correct cables, latest premium mobile phone used to test:

1. is it normal to expect full wifi speed using wifi 6, 5ghz? Or typically 70, 80% of max?

2. does it make a big difference using ookla, fast.com, netflix apps for testing?

3. if using wifi 5, 5ghz, close to router, what may be the max speed one shud expect... 30, 50, 60% of max?

Your pipe is huge doesn’t necessarily means it can pull the full pipe via their service. Usually downloads from non CDN/direct is susceptible to routing, I assume from your Synology you’re downloading either torrents/direct files from another host elsewhere on the internet, I use my Hetzner as a seed box to download to my local NAS but it’s always 1MB-4MB/s on average because of TM’s bad routing to international servers, only recently I’ve noticed it going up to 11MB-15MB on average, which is still well short of 1Gbps. Which is expected as I’m communicating directly with hetzner instead of going through AWS/Azure/Google/Akamai CDN or whichever CDN the services I’m connected to use.

For Xbox download, I’m pretty sure Microsoft has compressed their games on their server, so when you download it’s also decompressing real time on your Xbox, hence the speed, like how steam compresses their game, right now most new systems isn’t combatting with speed but their CPU power to decompress their game on your system , even semi new generation of chips Intel 9/10 gen still get pinned when downloading via gigabit from steam

my xbox series x also wont get 500mbps, normally 150-200+mbps only. XSX is wifi5 only tho

surprisingly my iphone 11 get 490-500mbps no sweat, but iphone 13pm get 300-400+ and sometimes only 500mbps lol. xbox ping use the menu check, get around 60ms+-, my iphone i check ping direct router around 2-5ms like tat. not sure is it due to wifi5 latency much higher than wifi6. my router tuf-ax4200 tho, all tested at 2nd floor while router 1st floor.

My Xbox Series X using wired also won't consistent 500mbps max

However, my PC connect wired from 2x TP Link switch [LINK] (From Deco X20 > 8 ports > 8 ports) still can get max speed when download from Xbox PC App as well as Steam

I think Astro know their customer well, those B40 should not care about paying RM 90 cheaper, else they already give up Astro lol.

But yes, I also think that Astro should give like RM 49/69 30M, sound better, consider with the issues of locked router etc.
This will kick most people to sign up with them.

ok, checked another thread, RM 60 for 50M, not bad.  

Easy, learn from Maxis, pay for Public IP.
Still, they know their market is for those always watch Astro, which don't care and not using internet for netflix etc.

Also, I wonder did they provide IPv6 or not, if no IPv6 public, then lol at them.
