Hi all, I currently have a Asus RT-AX56u as the main router. I need to setup an AP and im currently using a Tp-link c1200. It works well but the 2.4G network has issues with IOS and coverage is not that great.
I also have a Dlink x3060z, which im unable to configure an as AP successfully.

I have disabled DHCP on the firmware and I can get clients connected to the wifi network of the Dlink, however, DHCP from the main Asus router is not working. I have to manually configure the IP and gateway for each client connected to the Dlink to get internet access. I assume its due to the customized TM Unifi firmware?

Works fine when i switch it around i.e Dlink as main router and Asus as AP, but i lose all the Asus features.

Some routers have a Mode function like the AX20. Just select AP Mode and it it will disable DHCP and all other functions automatically.

Looks like the Dlink wasn't getting IP from the Asus DHCP.

Try turn off VLAN on the Dlink.

thanks all, but unfortunately, none of the suggestions worked. I called TM who wanted to charge me 53 bucks to help configure this but then later said that to configure as AP both the main and AP need to be the same router and model. Either it's locked via firmware or the tech team at TM is just bad. I've given up and will just use it as a spare backup router

This did the trick. thank you!
What i did was basically
1. setup the dlink with a static IP outside of the Asus DHCP range
2. change the router into bridge mode
3. manually disable DHCP for both ipv4 and ipv6
4. Plugged LAN cable into WAN port on the Dlink

for step 1.
you mean you restrict ASUS ip range to say 1 to 200 and set dlink static ip to say 201 ? or how you did this ? . TQ.

Yes that's right, I kept it in the same subnet, but outside the DHCP range so that I can easily access the Dlink router admin page if required.

Can show more detail in your setup for X3060Z?

here is my setup
https://youtu.be/sb33z82bLuE

even, it is able to connect, but the connection is not stable, the ping drop is crazy, basically not usable.

Can you share more detail e.g in main page quickconnection, and all the DHCP disable page?

On the Dlink i only changed, under status, quick configuration, change to 'The bridge model' , and I entered the wifi name and password.
I did not touch any WAN settings

then on Network tab, Lan Address setting, there is an option to uncheck DHCP. I did that.
Then i manually set a static IP under LAN address settings, and similarly set the same static IP for the Dlink on my main asus router as well.
And make sure to connect to WAN port on the Dlink ( NOT lan port)
