Hi.. I would like to seek feedback from all with regards to piping for central solar water heating system. The Contractor has completed the installation of copper piping using threaded connection but when pressure test was performed, pressure gauge shows minor leaks. Tried to identify and rectify the leaks but unable to do so, rectified one joint and the adjacent joint failed. This is quite common for threaded joints. Contractor is still trying to rectify but I have lost the confidence in the overall piping system.

Then only, i started to read about copper..Now I'm contemplating to change all the copper piping to PPR as the joints are said to be leak proofs. Of course I have to add some cash but I think I have to put that aside. I just want to have peace of mind for many2 years to come. And based on my reading, the copper material nowadays are not pure copper - prone to corrosion and pin hole leak along the way.

What would you do if you are in my shoes? I guess the additional cost of RM5-6k to replace is justifiable considering the headache down the road ie leak pipes and all the hacking for repair works. Or am I being too paranoid and worry too much?

Pressure is small since the hot water system is not connected to any booster pumps. The connection they use is brass type with plastic ring. But I think it is too late to change all the fittings to soldered type since he has completed the piping works.
