do you care more about your guitar or the effects/amp ?

i'd say ibanez for versatility, but i personally like LTD
pm deadeye for some choices

if you're on a tight budget, a multi fx should be better. you can experiment with all sorts of effects and some even have drum machines so you don't have to buy a metronome. i only use a distortion pedal, no effects whatsoever
