Titled. Getting real tired of the repetitive cycle of applying, interviewing, going through rounds and rounds of assessment, and then waiting for employers to come back to you.

Given my role is an assessment-heavy one, most employers will request an assessment to gauge the ability. At this rate, I'd like to pull the plug a little and recharge before undertaking any further assessments as they involve a hefty bit of brainpower.

What's the longest some of us here have taken a break from job hunting burnout?

After first job, over 1 year. But that time still freshie.

It happens, just continue and don't give up. It sucks when there are empty promises after empty promises but eventually you'll come across one that will see your capabilities. One time, my IV was canceled 1 hour before the scheduled time. CCB HR fella.

At times, it could be from your resume/ CV as well. Keep it 2 pages max, do away with those jargons.

Since you mentioned your role involves lots of brainstorming, you sure they're not taking you for a ride? Many times, employers love doing that under the guise of such so they don't have to pay a single cent for those free labor.

If you feel anxiety, then try meditate, if you got burntout, then reduce screen time, and go for a hike.

I pace my job hunts out over a long period of time. Always keep the doors open for a chat, don't create too much problems in your current work place and just give myself time to review job opportunities as it comes. It took me 2-3 years of being "open to opportunities" before performing my first job change. And that job change pays off very nicely.

I remember going through this as well, similarly I had to take assessment after assessment and it got tiring. Some companies allowed for an online assessment, some had me go in just to complete it on a computer that they provided. Took me about 6 months of not going for those in order to return back to mental strength.

you have to understand... you're tying to land a job during a bad global recession... if you're being denial on this, there is nothing to say...

in previous recessions... people has been jobless for few years.. these are people i know with masters and PHD holders...

people with jobs will tend to lose them in coming years...
at these point, if you cant land a job... try not to waste your time doing nothing but to upskill yourself ....

dont get into debts or lower your existing debts in this 10 years to come...

because if you can make it in the next 10 years.. you will be ok...
