I wonder is it possible an employee to quit company without serving notice period by just go missing for few days? Therefore causing termination, so if does so, is it one of the way to bypass notice period?

Possible, but then going MIA is a definite way to get yourself blacklisted by the company.

If its a small industry where people talk, your reputation also goes down the drain.

If your notice period is long/expensive enough, company will legally come after you for what you owe them in lieu of notice.

You are contractually obliged to give notice, there is no proper way to bypass it.

So many different possibilities depending on the exact circumstances.

If you really need to quit then be nice and inform the HR for immediate release.

I gather this is not a critical position you're leaving.

Nah I'm not the one leaving, just curious, my colleague left the company just like this by going MIA. I feel like this is like a loophole for employee to bypass it LOL

LOL - definitely not advisable unless the intention is to burn all bridges and dont look back.

Colleagues will remember, even if they move companies, depending on circumstances.
I've seen people get industry wide blacklisted because decided to do something similar and the former colleagues moved to different companies.
Hiring managers tend to ask around if its someone's former colleague.

Company HR will most likely put a do not rehire marker due to unprofessional behavior for a period.

This.

Only with small enterprise company we can MIA (illegally) or jobs that even SPM leavers can do. Legally, even in that case, employer still can send letter asking us to pay short notice, and if the employer is really mad at you, they can actually report to JTK. lol.gif

Labour Law clearly already indicate this, you owe employer if you short notice, in the same way employer owe you if they terminate within 24h, unless some serious matters involved.

For now, there is no universal database for employers to check if employee is blacklisted anywhere.

But if got hired through jobstreet, maybe jobstreet provides "employee records" to other employers? I'm not sure.

However, maybe in future.. there will be system for employers to check on employees. Like how bank checks on CCRIS.

This was actually people spreading around over the course of a couple of years through the industry and actively making sure this individual did not get hired across all the big players.

Not a HR or company effort to actively share/check.

Also was more than a basic MIA, and not an entry level role either. So people are bitter enough to remember.

Last i heard that individual had to abandon the industry since no one was willing to take a chance and jeopardize existing relationships.

But to be fair this is an extreme case. And not one that would be seen often, if at all.

you may get hired, you may not. mind you that the world is round.
Even you are hired, you may not pass the probation as word is going around.
There is silver lining that the hiring manager might give you a chance if you are performing well, however again, there is a risk of the person MIA to leave, so chances to let go is highier

in my opinion, its risky. If I were to encounter this person trying to promote something and I know its that person, I will not source from that person.
unless that person going to be some hawker
