Hi, has anyone of you have any experience or insights into buying a new car, and trade in a higher end car for it?

Will the car dealer accept it? For instance, buying a Honda City while trading in A BMW 3 series.

Any input is greatly appreciated notworthy.gif

Transaction A: Buying Honda City
Transaction B: Selling BMW 3 Series (usually via their appointed car dealer).

Should be feasible, as long as you settle your bank-loan, etc. related to the car you're selling first.

All about money.

The dealer will low-ball the BMW price. Up to u to decide if ok. If no more loan then easier. If still under loan, ensure it is enough to cover fully.

The thing is the car is still under loan, we did sent to Carsome/MyTukar but so far no buyer. So thinking whether buying a new car and allow the car dealer to do trade-in will have good value. That's why I ask around here of any experience.

Bro, do self advertising in mudah or facebook market. Check on average market price and sell lower a bit if you want to let go faster. If you ask dealer to trade in your car, sure low bail kau kau.

Good idea but I think it will involve a few steps? We are planning to not go through the whole process of going to JPJ etc. Hence, thinking of letting it go via car dealer when buying car, or Carsome/MyTukar etc. Carsome/MyTukar also didn't buy straight, they suggest us to auction it to the highest bidder.

Bro, all those procedure just ask runner to do it. Bank loan yourself still need to go bank settle. You ask those dealer at least 5k~10k min low bail for your ride. while getting the runner to help settle those ownership transfer maybe can settle around 1k.

Ask those shop doing car insurance renewal, they can help arrange runner for you.

I didn't know car insurance renewal could help with the runner!

This is a sound input. Thanks!

If you have mysikap account, you don't have to go to JPJ office, can just transfer ownership online. In case you change your mind to do it yourself:

1. Go to bank to settle outstanding loan
2. Bring your car to puspakom for inspection
3. Then transfer ownership online through mysikap

That's it

Didn't Carsome and Mytukar offer you a direct purchase price ?
Normally they would do that before suggesting the auction option.

Was told by Carsome staff, usually only offer cars with price less than RM50k & depends on model, Toyota/Honda/Nissan/Proton/Perodua the usual.
For conti they usually recommend auction

Yup. They recommended auction straightaway when we bring our car for inspection. We auction a few times but so far no buyer. It's really a shame because our car is in good condition, 1.5 years with less than 25k mileage and no flood no accident.

welp, the demand for a used bmw is... what u experienced there. The condition of a car is not the selling point, its the brand first, you can see evidence of this..... as its same reason you bought it in first place.

or try another outlet, but they probably have your car details & history already.

Anycase, if u intend to buy new car, just go to the steal....oops, i mean dealer & after vieweing car explain you want to trade in current car.

It is not me who bought the car, I never believe in branding. We just feel like changing this car because it is not suitable to drive.

Thanks for your input. I will see how

hmm, interested to know what do you mean by is not suitable to drive

too bumby, too low

ppl are always skeptical when someone is selling a relatively new car.

worried that there is something wrong with it, unless you say you are migrating

Either your reserve price is too high, or car dealers knows something more than you

No such thing as no buyer. Just price is not right

The longer you hold your car, the more the car depreciates. There is a reason why all the sime darby bmw salesman drives nice cars

Why not they win either way. But why the city over other cars from the b segment?

As in not suitable for my gf to drive such an expensive and big car, I prefer her to drive something smaller and less heavy on wallet.
