It’s been a while, just wondering how TS is adapting to life in Singapore?

Hi there !

Love singapore for everything it has to offer. Currently, staying in Bukit Timah area & I love the surrounding. The old people here (Aunties & Uncles ) are also a caring neighbour.

However, I do miss the Malaysian food. Missing nasi kandar now haha

Thank you for the update! See, not everything about Singapore is bad.

Are you staying in a rented HDB, rented apartment/condo or renting just a room?

Sorry for the intrusiveness, but I want to demonstrate to the disbelievers here that Malaysians CAN carve a niche out for themselves living in Singapore, and not all is doom and gloom as what the popular narrative would have potential job seekers believe (ie. pigeon hole, squashed by MRT, boring, etc etc).

Happy for you!

The closer you are to a 1-to-1 ratio between MYR to SGD the better. Do factor in the job rank as well. SM should be looking at $10-11k.

For me 1-to-0.8 also quite good smile.gif

Never stayed in SG and not really interested in working in SG but just curious.
I know that the cost of accommodation has increased significantly past few years. (Wonder if SG gov will try to control this...)
How about the inflation in SG?
Seems a lot of Singaporean complaining about it, but you know, Singaporean like to complain about everything. (They themself said it, not me. Haha.)

I moved here with my family & currently renting a 5 room HDB in Bukit Timah. I feel like HDB offers the best space for my family. The condos here are too small (<800 sqft)

Overall, I do enjoy living in singapore & I kinda like the fast paced environment. Everything is efficient

They are making efforts to mitigate housing costs but only for Singaporeans. They are building many more HDB homes and rolling out subsidies for home purchases, but these will possibly have a secondary knock on effect in reducing rental costs because more Singaporeans will move out of their rental units and into their own homes.

Inflation is higher than it has in the past few years, but that’s the same all over the world, thanks to the export of inflation from the US. Can’t be helped.

I’m lucky as we own our own home, and have not been held hostage to the rising rentals.
