anyone use 3870 in winxp?
which catalyst driver ur using?

that's why i wonder.. i can't install 7.10 catalyst which came from the bundled cd..
but works ok on vista.. i just can assume my winxp corrupted after a few times changing hardware.. will try on 7.11 catalyst tonight..

not becoz of that..
only the display driver refused to proceed installation on winxp..
nevermind then try to play with vista first..

ya that prob..
can be solved only using manual installation?
will try later..

seriously i ran on 400W.. but no time play with them yet.. busy²..

Just to clear a doubt if any..

1 - if anyone intend to buy 3850/3870 and facing installation prob using winxp...
* manual installation of display driver should do the trick, then can install catalyst control center

2 - problem starting 3dmark and hang at splash screen
* 3dmark need hotfix for new gpu go download them and install..

didn't know other highend ATI card also got prob...
same like me.. i tried with 7.10 n 7.11..
end up install manually..

it's not the other required software.. the installer itself got problem.. same error like sniper69
i tried 2 diff windows...

by the way this is crysis cpu benchy.. tried on winxp.. not fully tweak though... just taken to share..

maybe conflict with soundcard..

i played COD4 with 50fps.. luckily no cpu bottleneck..

i can say it's far better than 6600gt on that time.. coz i bought at the same price tag.. 3870 can play most latest games smoothly..
just waiting the time to squeeze it with better cpu.. though it's sufficient enough at the moment.. why worry much..
if still not enough.. can xfire them later..

yup.. but still i got it below rm900.. even now saw some shop selling cheaper than before.. after a little price slash then restock.. should be ok.. 3850 price also dropping below Rm600..

from my observation ppl always compare which benchmark/games better.. i still think it's subjective..
there are few reasons why i grab them fast.. most of the times for upgrading ofcourse but got other reasons as well..

1-the stock cooler is better
2-it's run cooler.. even though report shows 88C on load.. still not even taste the heat..
3-low power on idle
4-less wattage on load
5-support dx10.1 n other features
6-well known for video related
7-suit my need..
8-xfirex better later

oc gpu won't necessary for me now coz.. even not oc gpu i got 10k on 3dm06..
cpu bottlenecking.. but still not far left behind if consider rm200 cheapo cpu..
since it's reach 50fps for gaming.. it's ok then for now..
i tried 850/2400 no prob.. i bet it can go further with better cpu later..

870 for core is won't go.. maybe need some other tweak..
but ram got plenty of room more.. i need to slow down the horse now.. coz the rider getting older.. lol..

one thing i like on this new ati card becoz of the core usage... can monitor using rivatuner.. so i can check which game use highest % with the help of G15..

i'm using sapphire.. using default cooler.. 88C onload..
if not mistaken powercolor using cooler from zerotherm..
i never try it.. if onload around 60C then it's surely good..

if u require 20fps more.. than yes..
not crysis ar... that game sucks..

what's so special with IQ.. same like normal only instead blue color?

means.. it's run cooler eh? since normal one, onload with correct fan speed just reaching ~60c
if same.. just a waste then..
