Don't quite understand. Maybe you should post the GOOD pallete and BAD pallete so we would be able to see whether it's happening to us.

I think HIS should discontinue their normal range and just sell IceQ versions.

Although I'm not bothered about benchmarks, why did you use 3dmark05 instead of 06? CPU? Ain't bothered about that. Just need to know the 2 other scores for the graphics. See how much OC can be squeezed out of that card...oh btw, did you have to flash the BIOS as well? How is the sound of the fan at 100%?

QUOTE(zhen^wei @ Jan 18 2008, 05:44 PM) haha. i just now set 100% for the fan speed. the tempeature below 40C alraedy (34-38C) What I meant is that does the card still require a BIOS update so that it can OC beyond 860MHz for the core?the fan noise (100%) still reasonable la. no so loud compare with my previous HIS HD3870 non iceQ this is turbo card. the core and memory clock already higher than normal 3870. so which bios u suggest me to flash ler.haha it's Core clock: 850mhz, Memory clock: 2.38ghz i will update the 3dmark06 screnshot later. |

QUOTE(xen0 @ Jan 19 2008, 03:01 PM) From my experience...I guess so. I always use NVIDIA until this HD3870 came along. But all the while, my friends use ATI. I constantly have to help them fix drivers issues, revert to older ones, use optimized ones, etc. Even Tomshardware acknowledge that NVIDIA had turned driver tweaking into an art while ATI is just catching up. Hopefully they can fix these issues as soon as possible.BTW: I could have gone for NVIDIA's 8800GT but I chose ATI because I don't want AMD to sink. I want competition. My buying power may be small, and I can only influence very few people to do the same...but heck, a small step for competition is better than none. Added on January 19, 2008, 3:50 pmHey zhen^wei, how much can you OC with fan at 100%? Seems not bad at the moment. This post has been edited by clayclws: Jan 19 2008, 03:50 PM |

Hmmm...but those results are subjective. We really can't say that it is scientific findings. The control group results are not included as well... Nothing objective can be concluded from that challenge.

My advice. Get a decent PSU first. That graphics and games can come later when you upgrade next time.

No idea about Sapphire. But HIS has a damn loud fan. Easily OCable, according to my experience.

If the R680 is reasonably priced, then get that. At the moment, online stores are selling it for around USD500+. That's around RM2000. Crazy pricing. Hope it won't be such when it finally appears on retail in Malaysia.
