my antec smart power 400W (not even true power) runs fine with HD3850 ..no prob so far but haven't done orthos to test out
i think should be ok coz the power consumption isn't much diff than 86gt

hehe ..just sharing my findings on hd3850 power consumption
below is the chart of the measurement. i used a clamp-type current meter from Proskit brand. (dun remember the model liao).

measured voltage at wall =~240V
power = current x voltage
for cpu load i use orthos blend and for gpu load i use atitool

** the measurement is on the power consumption for the whole PC (17" LCD + Whole PC + No speaker)

user posted image

See my rig specs on my siggy.
Basically it's a E4300 @ 3GHz + Sapphire HD3850 @ Stock
wow, now i knew at load (cpu+gpu), my pc actually eats upto 240W with the lcd tongue.gif biggrin.gif blink.gif

** do note that i mistakenly included the LCD inside the measurement, on samsung website it says max power is 40W for the lcd ...
sorry .. i didn't manage to measure the lcd alone or the system without the lcd

i think what he meant was, u can just leave ur rivatuner monitor running in background so that it'll record for u the whole 'stress test' temps.
that way, it will be easier for u, no need to jump back to desktop just to see the max temp
QUOTE(clayclws @ Jan 26 2008, 10:52 PM)
...What I did was run them through really heavy scenes, and then, jump to desktop to look at the highest temperature before it drops...

QUOTE(sukhoi37 @ Jan 26 2008, 11:12 PM)
you should use rivatuner monitor.

Huh? I am using Rivatuner. So, why did you recommend me to use it in the first place?
