QUOTE(frags @ Dec 2 2007, 02:17 PM) Your're comparing a 3850 with a 1000 buck card? 8800GTS has 320bit memory pipeline! Of course it wont outperform a 8800GTS...different category...But it clearly outperforms a 8600GTS which is around the same price range... then i think a jump from 1950 to 3850 wont have much diffrenceAt the same price range...nothing by NVIDIA beats the 3850...8800GT is about 300 bucks more expensive... |

QUOTE(frags @ Dec 2 2007, 04:49 PM) Depends on what type of 1950 you are talking about...HD3850 does beat a 1950pro...XT not very sure... wow like that i think better change to 3870take a look at this benchy: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/amd_rv...eview/page5.asp Okay Confirmed a HD3850 performs better than even a X1950XTX: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3151&p=9 Whether this increase of performance warrants an upgrade from a 1950XTX is up to your personal opinion and whether you'll be going the DX10 route anytime soon... |

QUOTE(tadasu @ Dec 5 2007, 12:54 PM) i certainly cant see any big difference that justifies "far superior" IQ in that particular image, what bullcrap by THG... wah Gt image damn bluredit: this is what i call noticeable difference 3870 vs 8800GT IQ but then both the images were taken at slightly different point in time. for 8800GT image u r still kinda far away from landing and vision could be blurred by clouds, compared to 3870 image, which is nearer to the land... |

QUOTE(clayclws @ Dec 5 2007, 03:45 PM) Wow, you notice the image quality difference while gaming? What did you do? Snap every frame, sit back and admire the pictures? Really, image quality comparison may be made within games but how much difference can you notice while gaming? You must be paranoid to really take notice. I play games to relax and enjoy...I want the game to run smooth and beautiful, and not bragging about how much better my image is compared to NVIDIA's. If you notice it while using graphic intensive programs, movie editting or watching...then it'll really be worthwhile to note because they hamper your enjoyment. How would a less jagged fence on your screen make any difference in your pursuit of enjoyment while playing CoH? IQ does not applies to Games only,it applies to movies too |

Enough With the Comparing
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Saturday is a nice day to surf the net. As usual we find something good: Gecube unveils their HD 3850 OC edition with a dual-slot cooler. It equip with two heat pipe and a big fan, seems more powerful than HD 3870's stock cooler. Sauce Added on December 5, 2007, 5:21 pm QUOTE(clayclws @ Dec 5 2007, 04:17 PM) Beautiful images as in image quality...really...does it make your game any less fun? It may make the video in my movie duller and that would irked me...but gaming? How would a jagged fence, or clearer cobble pathment, or clearer ocean wave - all in a distance - make my game much more fun? woot sorry din read tatMy point is...you really cannot say anything much about image quality between NVIDIA and AMD.ATI in gaming because they don't really matter much...unless you snap every frame to be made into your wallpapers or something. It matters in movie or other video/graphic intensive softwares. Added on December 5, 2007, 4:19 pm Read again, bro. Notice the bold part? If not, it is repeated above... QUOTE(clayclws @ Dec 6 2007, 03:51 AM) Been waiting for a review of HIS' HD3870 cards. Here's an interesting excerpt from Hardware Canucks (Canadian). my god almost as good as GTX Source Seems to be overlocked with stock heatsink...and guess what? They label HIS to have a lousy heatsink...wonder how it'll perform with the DuOrb. Best to read the whole article. Seems like there's a Crossfire problem under Vista 64bit. Currently, HIS HD3870 is available at PC-Zone for RM895. Don't know about bulk though... Added on December 6, 2007, 3:52 amThe power of GDDR4...NVIDIA is still stuck with GDDR3. Wonder what happens if they changed to GDDR4...and AMD.ATI to GDDR5. |
