i already saw 3850 at c-zone RM900 if im not mistaken..

3850 is ~90% of a HD2900XT, which is 105-110% of a 8800GTS (excluding AA)
Plus, 256MB of RAM = no go.

However, the Powercolor OCed 3850 512MB definitely beats a GTS (99% of a 2900XT, and AA is a bit better in some cases)

Your're comparing a 3850 with a 1000 buck card? 8800GTS has 320bit memory pipeline! Of course it wont outperform a 8800GTS...different category...But it clearly outperforms a 8600GTS which is around the same price range...

At the same price range...nothing by NVIDIA beats the 3850...8800GT is about 300 bucks more expensive...

Depends on what type of 1950 you are talking about...HD3850 does beat a 1950pro...XT not very sure...

Whether this increase of performance warrants an upgrade from a 1950XTX is up to your personal opinion and whether you'll be going the DX10 route anytime soon...

If you can afford the HD3870 then go for it...It can handle higher resolution better than the HD3850.

i certainly cant see any big difference that justifies "far superior" IQ in that particular image, what bullcrap by THG...

but then both the images were taken at slightly different point in time. for 8800GT image u r still kinda far away from landing and vision could be blurred by clouds, compared to 3870 image, which is nearer to the land...

Wow, you notice the image quality difference while gaming? What did you do? Snap every frame, sit back and admire the pictures? Really, image quality comparison may be made within games but how much difference can you notice while gaming? You must be paranoid to really take notice. I play games to relax and enjoy...I want the game to run smooth and beautiful, and not bragging about how much better my image is compared to NVIDIA's. If you notice it while using graphic intensive programs, movie editting or watching...then it'll really be worthwhile to note because they hamper your enjoyment. How would a less jagged fence on your screen make any difference in your pursuit of enjoyment while playing CoH?

Beautiful images as in image quality...really...does it make your game any less fun? It may make the video in my movie duller and that would irked me...but gaming? How would a jagged fence, or clearer cobble pathment, or clearer ocean wave - all in a distance - make my game much more fun?

My point is...you really cannot say anything much about image quality between NVIDIA and AMD.ATI in gaming because they don't really matter much...unless you snap every frame to be made into your wallpapers or something. It matters in movie or other video/graphic intensive softwares.

Seems to be overlocked with stock heatsink...and guess what? They label HIS to have a lousy heatsink...wonder how it'll perform with the DuOrb. Best to read the whole article. Seems like there's a Crossfire problem under Vista 64bit. Currently, HIS HD3870 is available at PC-Zone for RM895. Don't know about bulk though...
