From the anecdotes shared by many here, it seems that Australia immigration may have relaxed the ETA applications by Malaysians. Happy days.

you need to go to the referral letter there and click on the link given

what happen to you is after you registered for immi account - and inside immi account click on new application

you can give another try for your wife while waiting for yours (repeat the process on your phone, get a new ETA reference number) and resubmit the documents (do not need to register for new immi account, but remember, click on the link in the PDF received)

keep it simple, give documents as below;
--- 1554 - fill in form in PDF - answer as honest as possible, if you know where you will be staying - if not hotel name ? .. if you know anyone in australia (if yes fill in, if no - click no) .. print PDF to be attached together in immi account (DO NOT save PDF and attached that document because that will pop out error)
--- ITINERARY - write a short description of your itinerary - where you plan to visit ? what you plan to do .. make sure as logical as possible lar, dont say go perth but half way your trip visit sydney opera house etc)
--- FINANCIALS - spending money / emergency money ? -- if housewife and you will be supporting her stay - then attached marriage cert and write a short letter saying you will support her stay followed by your bank account / funds / fd / savings / EPF
--- INTENTION to return - any of her families here she is taking care of ? any assets under her name ? children need to go school she needs to care off ?

in my experience - documents might all in order, but because applicant will be visiting another person in australia with bad immigration record - kena reject .. remember if you are listing that you are visiting someone in australia, know what are their immigration status first

I’m think the $190 visa application will be approved. That’s my experience with my helper from Philippines when I helped her to apply for an Aussie visa to accompany us home.

Good luck with the applications bro.

First time travelers to Australia. I get why my kids are easily approved. But we're going on a self funded holiday! Is it so damn difficult?! Why not I give you Aussie guys my DOB and IC no.. you go dig up from EPF/BankNegara/SSM/IRB. That should be enough right? Frustrated betul. 2-weeks liao.. STILL Pending for me. Wife still redo-ing a new application. Waiting for family proof reader to confirm my Husband Declaration letter is upto standards.. 😛

I dont think that's the problem. Might be the financial declaration and responsibilities for her. Didnt know that because she doesnt have any documented responsibilities.. its difficult to get a visa. And here i am being a good husband doing the donkey work making sure the wife's legally comfortable... but it makes VISA applications harder!....

Be patient .. they are abit overwhelmed now and many of the vetting processes is sent to embassies overseas .. due to currently heavy promo push by tourism australia (notice now why so many tourism aus ads in youtube ?)

Currently i notice that some of d approvals for my group came from australia embasy jakarta ..

They are based overseas, so you give them ic also useless (even if local they cant check your background lar) ..

This ETA is really a joke. Might as well stop the charade and make Malaysians apply for a full on visa.

We only have our fruit picking illegal overstaying countrymen to blame for this.

If the statistics hold up, a quarter of applicants will still be thankful they get their visa quickly with just AUD20.so please don't give them ideas....

On a slightly related note, my RRV renewal was approved within 3 days - just got it in the mail today, after we submitted the paperwork just before the weekend. Happy days.

I still remember last time i apply visa in Aus because need to attend services in Oil Rig...
I even complete the special training in order to onboard into Oil Rig.
Then Aussie decline my visa... client force to burn around 3.5k MYR on my special training....
