Could you check the latest status in their app?
Usually if its approved, they'll email you within a couple of days. If they require more info, you'll also be informed via email quite instantly. I last applied in July 2023 and got the email to submit extra info instantly after applying. ETA was approved ~5 days after submitting all the docs. Maybe processing time is much longer now.

And I second the age group algorithm that picks who is required to submit extra info. My family has applied in 2022 and 2023, both times parents (in their 70s) instantly approved while my brother and I (20-30s) instantly received email for further info to be submitted.
*
I applied using the app and after I made payment, I instantly receive an email asking me to login to Immi Account and submit additional supporting document. I have submitted all the supporting document including income, asset and prove that I have stable job here on 8th April. Until now there is no update whatsoever. It seems the processing time is indeed very long

normal. that’s why i applied my visa in july 2023 for my feb 2024 trip to have some buffer just in case, because i heard from few of my friends that it took 1 month+ for their visa to be approved.

Both the sales market and rental market are going crazy, especially Sydney. In some areas the queue to view units for rental is like people queuing up for concerts. Don't think it's gonna improve anytime soon that's why also dilemma if and when I get my 190 sweat.gif

I'd submit on the 6th APR for myself and another 4 applications tight as a family group, so far been 12 working days haven't received any update,
I assume there will be today or the next few days probably max out 14-15 working day.

Ohh so they already asked for supporting documents, then yes that's normal. It can take a couple of weeks for them to process it and get back to you. Took ~5 days in my 2023 application but I recall my 2022 application took 2-3 weeks at least. On average, friends and families have reported about 1 month processing time. Hence, I usually apply for ETA around 3 months before my trip.

To be honest, it will get harder and harder for us to move over, once we've established ourselves in our respective fields and careers in our present country of residence.

Malaysia, for all that everyone says about it, isn't all that bad, and a decent standard of living can still be had.

You are waiting for a human yo look at you documents and make a decision.

When they first open for visitors in early 22, it took up to 6 weeks to process as they were short of manpower.

The processing time eventually dropped to a few days by the end of last year.

Looks like the queue is lengthening again.

Doesn't help that the labour government has reversed their post Covid enthusiasm for immigration and starting to close the door again. All categories of visa applications will balloon out. The contributory parent visa is now queue of 12 years from 4 before Covid.

This is quite true.
KL is not that bad if you're established and earning decent money.

give them about a month or so
I did mine back in 2022, and it took them about a month to approve my application

Very true. As long as one doesn't compare, things should be fine once a certain standard of living has been achieved.

I always say this, only ever make the move if it places you in a better stratum insofar as the standard of living is concerned, or at the very least, a lateral equivalent one.

No point trading in a T20 lifestyle for a M40 one.

It is fair price ?

It may not be a fair price (I personally don’t think so) but it’s the reality. Having said that, I’ve benefited from selling some of my properties at these inflated prices so I shouldn’t say too much - and as a result my holdings have now been whittled down to more commercial properties than residential ones (for tax purposes).

Yep.
My SG friends always envy when they come here.
Life in SG is rushing everyday and quite shag.

Come KL suddenly peace of mind and calm. More relaxing.
Some even thinking of retiring in KL or Ipoh when the time comes.

Yes. The pace of life is definitely faster in Singapore but ultimately you choose the rhythm to which you wish to dance.

I have the privilege of running my own practice so I work only 6 months of the year and spend the other 6 back in Australia.

I recognize not every one’s work can be similarly structured, and for a lot of salary/wage earners, unless promotions and career progression aren’t priorities, they’ll all end up marching to the same rapid beat in Singapore.

Hey… another one! Good luck with the application! May I know which part of Australia will you be? We should keep a little informal dossier of Malaysians retiring or moving to Australia and if we’re near enough, we can come out for meet ups and revive the original spirit of the kopitiam forum before the trolls and the cybertroopers took over….

WA mate, specifically perth.

Definitely, i think there is quite a few users here residing in australia, i recalled the australia thread was quite active back then, then many went dormant.

Yeah I think the age group definitely didn't help, considering how many Malaysians of similar age group overstayed their tourist visa sweat.gif

And nice! Hope you'll be getting the 491 grant soon, the processing time have been going upwards like crazy the last year.  sweat.gif

The expected processing time is around 1 year, if everything checks out. They are still clearing the post covid glut when they briefly opened the floodgates in 2022-2023. The processing speed should pick up going forward since they impose more restrictive conditions in the current FY, thus lesser new applications!

If u dont mind, may i know when did u lodge the application?

It is very true indeed. It's pretty easy to cover the basic necessities here in Malaysia and once those are covered, everything else really is depending on how one would live their lifestyle. The only reason I'm actively pursuing is only not to leave regrets at the later stage in my life - regretting for not pursuing something I've been wanting to try, for better or worse laugh.gif

Not gonna lie, but the potential downstep from T20 to M40 is indeed a scary one, but still doing everything I can in my capacity and play my cards to hopefully land at least a lateral move. Fingers crossed.

Yeah those backlogs are huge indeed, last I checked (in FB groups with agents and all) that they're still processing April 2023 backlogs. Lodgement after May 2023 should stumble as you said, and hopefully it'll be done before a complete year.

I lodged mine Dec 2023, how about you?

Will your visa be independent of a job offer? I’m not familiar with the 190. Mines the old 175 and that was a skilled independent visa that allowed me to work as a barista if I wanted to, or just retire in Australia if that floated my boat.

Yeah it'll be independent of job offer. So technically speaking if I can afford a retirement there, I can do it as well. Just financially won't make sense at this stage considering the lifespans ahead of me.
