The hyper competitive EV market along with the focus on their mass production models means they are likely having to pivot on some of their earlier business decisions. Not to mention the targeted demographics (cue global market now) are price conscious and thus investing in charging infra at the cost of higher vehicle prices is likely counterintuitive. There’s going to be a critical mass for charging stations and we’ll likely see them sell their proprietary charging systems to 3rd party to offload some of the cost burden, so they can continue to try to compete in the market on car prices.

Simply put, I suspect they found that the majority of their likely buyers (global) do not have supercharger network very high on their priority list when considering to buy a Tesla over the alternatives. I know I didnt.

Reminder to all when collecting your car - take a video with as high a resolution as you can. Even if you miss something, the video can come in handy to prove the issue was there at collection.

It’s absolutely normal for you to miss any of the small problems during collection. Don’t need to stress over it, they have an obligation to resolve these issues within a reasonable grace period of delivery.

Feels like they aren’t really following the order date, which is a bit frustrating tbh. Suspect there are inside favours for prioritising some orders albeit done later because they have inside ‘connections’. Maybe that’s expected.

I think what he meant to say was that, legally according to Malaysian laws - a hire purchase agreement cannot exceed the 90% quoted invoice price of the car. To circumvent this, deals were artificially inflating the price of giving hidden rebates to make the invoice amount higher than the actual price you’re buying the car for. Thus you’re not paying that stipulated 10% deposit amount. Regardless of how strong your credit is, no it’s not possible to get 100% financing for a car as it’s illegal - without the workaround.

Example:
Actual car price - 90,000
Invoiced car price/ Cash price - 100,000
Rebate - 10,000 (this detail is not shared with the bank)
Hire purchase amount - 90,000 (max 90% of invoiced/cash price)
Deposit - 0

Apparently some of the US orders have started getting their VINs. No word on the China factory orders yet though - no reports or Asian or Europe orders having progress yet.

I think if you’re a frugal shopper and don’t mind the Model Y when the updated Juniper is around the corner, or the base Model 3 RW option, then yes. I think discounts will be coming to clear stock.

Just like how EVERY MANUFACTURER does. Just that it isn’t transparent and published online. Walk into any mainstream dealer and you will find stock clearance of the slower moving models. Especially year end.

Like I said, if you dgaf of having the latest and greatest to flex on your buddies, you’ll be able to drive a good bargain no matter where you do.

Depends on how warranty would work, and I feel ~5% seems like too little for it to be a great deal considering it’s been run and probably from the roadshow fleet. They should knock another 5-10k off the price.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that locally. Companies low ball on new old stock and demo vehicles, they don’t give enough discount/rebate. I guess that is because consumers here are okay with the small savings over brand new.

But still no VIN since launch. 🥲

DA gave me the same story, but after pushing he admitted management has say on allocation for the early cars. Guess even with such a transparent system direct to Tesla, the local team inject “friends and family” privileges to make the system less efficient. It’s frustrating to see deliveries had started almost 2 weeks ago and I’ve not had a VIN.
