Ok, jz received the call from a Asus Specialist.
The Memory upgrade can do it by Asus service center.
You guys can bring ur own memory with ur Eee pc to Asus Service center for upgrade.
Dun worry, bout buying a new Ram from them.
They will replace another warranty sticker for u Eee.

Cheers...  rclxms.gif

Hi Kok Wei,
I just call up the centre today to make appointment for memory upgrade. The techician told me this 'Eee PC model cannot upgrade memory'. I were refer to Mr. Jackie at HO (Tel: 03-21416650). Jackie explanation is that this Eee PC is suppose to be a gadget, hence, memory cannot be upgrade, policy wise. Hardware wise, can upgrade by end user, but will void warranty.

Just wonder, anyone that have done memory upgrade at Asus Serive center.

Thanks,
safilo

Decide to go ahead, void warrantty and upgrade memory to 2GB. Just back from Digital Mall. Manage to find a 2GB ram cost RM180 Apacer SOD PC2-5300 CL5 from Thunder Match. Been looking around for several days, price is around Rm280 to RM310. I thought this is a good buy.

From my window Add or Remove program panel, it say the size taken up by the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver is 48.91MB.

I read somewhere that Tiny XP will do the trick  smile.gif

BTW, what s the curent price? RM1499 or RM1299?

Installation of full version of XP should be fine with standard eee PC 512MB ram. Have try with full XP Pro SP2. Run fine with office 2003, anti virus (AVG), IE7. Have surf the web with multiple pages simultaneously, listening to internet radio via WMP. Run fine.

Most of the time the my eee PC is hook up to an external monitor, wireless keyboard/mouse. Even with higher resolution, the speed is good. Combining with the fast boot time due to the flash drive, this is a great notebook if you move around a lot.

Current price of ram is cheap ( 1GB is about RM75, 1 piece 2GB can get < RM200), 4GB flash drive < RM100. Portable HD is affortable. This should compliment the 4GB limitation.

The price should be RM1299. Currently supposely out of stock. New batch suppose to come in Jan. Supposely, the 8GB SSD/1GB ram will be out also. Pricing could be RM1500 for the Linux version, Rm1700 for the Window version from what I gather and heard so far.

To achive 2gb ... how many piece of gb ram ... 1 or 2 piece?  Any brand recommend?

eee PC has 1 ram slot. To get 2GB, need to replace the 512MB one that come the machine with standard notebook DDR2 SODIMM 5300 ram. I am using the Apacer 2GB which I bought from Thunder Match from Digital Mall. Cost RM180 for the one piece 2GB ram.

From what I gather, Kingston & Transcend will also worked.
