For $350 you'd get an ugly laptop with ugly panel, a mac-ripoff white body, and did i mention the panel is ugly?

it was to be priced at $500.. but they could have gone lower i bet...
it has instant on, >8 hours battery life, 1024x768 (compared to eee's 800x 400?) features that i mention are those that eee gay-looking pc does not boast |

What? COME ONE guys, for $500 i could buy a fully loaded Acer 15.4" Celeron 1.5 with Win XP. Greater screen resolution, etc. This EEE is a piece of crap, in my opinion. It might have better portability, but in that sense Foleo is better albeit it is not going to be released Added on October 31, 2007, 9:19 pmp/s the only good thing about this is that it was offered for $200, of which it was never released due to a $15 price hike on lcd monitor. damn asus This post has been edited by mypetridish: Oct 31 2007, 09:19 PM |

in your opinion, which one is better designed? would you take the eee pc to starbucks? i would definitely not. id take the foleo anywhere i go, event o business meetings.
not the eee pc. why was everyone being so critical about foleo? it's only $100 more than the eee and essentially a direct comeptition. not the eee has no competitiopn aside for the kids toys OLPC... |

the price jump from 4gb to 8gb by asus makes me feel happy that MSI in entering th emarket with somewhat better laptop. they should compete fiercely. remember when crappy asus said the 2g was gng to sell for $199? since there was a $14 price bump in the lcd panels they decided to bump the price all the way to $299.
stupid bloodsucking asus. welcome, MSI |

QUOTE(selvenz @ Mar 20 2008, 09:40 AM) MSI wind. it should go head to head against the 9" ee, if the price is right QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Mar 20 2008, 11:09 AM) i beg to differ your begging to differ my opinion 8g, 1g ram: $500 4g, 512mb ram: $400 for parts price comparison: 8gb sdcard: $32 4gb sdcard: $18 and 1gb ram shouldnt be too expensive compared to 512mb. if aything, they should bump the price to only $450 for the 8g version. it's obvious they didnt do it because the demand is so high since there isnt any competition This post has been edited by mypetridish: Mar 21 2008, 03:51 AM |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Mar 20 2008, 07:25 PM) Untung <5% also considered bloodsuckers? im sure they can get a lower price than the example i gave above since they buy the parts in volume. as of such the untung must be >5%. we'll see how when the other cheaper ultra portables flood the market when Asus will be forced to lower its own price that was inflated in the first place. The gwailo company's how? Intel? Nvidia (sort of gwailo anyway) etc |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Mar 21 2008, 12:14 AM) Disty --> Reseller. then cost effective they should be. it's a low cost laptop to begin with, and you still reason why the big $100 price jump from 4g to 8g which should have been lowerThis is where most of the $$$ went... and advertising agencies of course since this is about creating a new segment altogether. Notebook manufacturer average margins over BOM is 5% by the way. That is less than 30 ringgit by the way. http://finance.google.com/finance?q=TPE:2357 ASP will go down for sure but I'm pretty sure we won't see panasonic card reader, Intel SLC flash and Atheros chip WLAN cards in there anymore. Probably something more cost-effective. Edit: Quanta being the biggest volume lagi kesian http://finance.google.com/finance?q=TPE%3A2382 in anycase, they should be using atom instead of celeron. i wonder if the 9 inch will be using atom? |
