SSD is more durable than flash drive and even last more longer than HDD. Which Eee PC's SSD is MLC type and not SLC type which found on most of the flash drive in market.

Although it has read/write lifespan. But the Eee PC's SSD has dynamic wear leveling feature which is write the "busy" task to a buffer space before write into the SSD

The main Advantage for SSD can found on the trip on bus in China (almost like roller coaster). which i can watch my movie (save in SSD+memory card) and never be stop or paused. Unlike the HDD laptops.

vostro 1200 = RM1999

which should i get... (btw i dun have any notebook, onli desktop)

complained eee pc lack of HDD and no optical drive should just get a full featured lappy thats under RM2k

(Tested from Eee PC's SD slot. But i think it will be faster if use card reader or test on other pc)

let say i charge it full then leave it for a couple of days without booting it even once.

after tat i on it the batt power will reduce around 20-30% depending how long i dint on it, if too long the batt will totally dried up.

i use my Eee as Play/flashing/working device....

Play
1. Use as movie player (rmvb, avi, wmv and all other format), music player.
2. When free, can play Warcraft also.....(Dota...hehe!) No lag and very smooth when playing.....hehe!

Flasing
1. i had flashing ubuntu....eeexbuntu....XP.....Vista.....many many time this week....But only the Vista can last longer....why? can show off ma....hehe!
(Using Vista Ultimate Vlite, space left 1.2G after important windows update)

Working...
1. Need IE and ActiveX......Working good and act fast than my desktop
2. Portable and can change the resolution to higher although need to scroll up and down (if is 1024x768 or 1280x1024, need to scroll right and left too....)

Battery Life....
I think the default OS drain more power than using XP. And i think the vista will drain more than them since i didn't disable the superfetch and side bar....

I think more or less also should have some difference lor.

different OS different power management. some better some worst. so there will be differences in battery life.

Since I'm going to be pretty bored during CNY... gonna do some testing on the Eeepc under Mobilemark2005

2) Default
3) 900Mhz

Wifi on and Wifi off. Let's see how the clockspeeds influence the batt life.

It tells the cpu temp, control fanspeed on the fly also. I'm using 80% fan speed + 450mhz for 24/7 bittorent operation. Keeps the Eeepc nice and cool.
Just gotta edit the ini file for downclocking. Windoze only though

i use the 0511 BIOS for 900Mhz (has option for best battery, 630Mhz, and best performance, 900Mhz). And this BIOS doesn't cause any problem. same as 0401 BIOS.

Starting time = 30sec
shutdown time = 35sec++

100% - 20%  =  1hrs ++ RMVB movie watching over networking (file at my main pc in Living Room, use Wifi and lie on bed watching on Eee), more than 30min friendster search + surf net....)

Side bar activated, brightness at 3rd stage, sound at 50%

0511 is unofficial leh. I'll stick with official bios first.

XP is the most stable and fast OS than Vista.

XP can do most of the thing that desktop and laptop can do. (Although the Vista can....but it cant use Aero.....T_T )

i install vista is to "show off" . . . . . .
Everyone saw it will say "Wa......", "so geng ah????" "Walau eh!!!"

(Vista still can handle my work....so continue it....)

I will stick to Linux for the moment 

Futurewise will install XP once I have learned at much as possible of Linux OS.

Some small updates...

I can't install mobilemark2005 due as it requires 3GB free on the system disk to run the benchmarks

However, based on AC power draw.. I can confirm that running 450Mhz saves a grand total of 1W off the power consumption compare with default.

It might sound like very little but 1W out total system consumption of 13W idle is quite a bit.

I've been doing some intensive websurfing plus youtube for the past 45minutes using WLAN and battery meter shows 80% now. LCD on 1/3 brightness
