QUOTE(marauderz @ Dec 7 2007, 05:57 PM) *ALERT* *ALERT* our units are only eligible for a 1 yr local limited warranty anyway (at least thats what it says on the receipt from mtcs group), so i guess its a non issue lah...For all you people thinking of upgrading your eeePC RAM to 2GB. First I called Asus and asked them if it was ok that we do the RAM upgrade thing by bringing our eeePC and our own RAM modules over and doing the upgrade. And the guy working there, a Mr Wong, said yes it was fine. My colleague just took a whole bunch of our eeePCs along with 4 sticks of Kingston 2GB RAM over to the Asus Services center at Wisma SPS. Upon seeing the RAM Mr Wong then told us that he could NOT install the RAM for us, cause Asus doesn't warranty anything bigger than 1GB. Specifically he was saying that and I quote "What if the RAM burns the motherboard?" I started arguing with him telling him its just a SODIMM module, not a power supply. But he was insistant that he can NOT put a 2GB module into the eeePC. Then he said he had to check with his Manager... who is in Taiwan right now... After refering to his colleague to make some phone calls, they have now agreed to install the ram, but there'll only be LOCAL warranty on the units. I have no idea what that means, but they are sticking back the warranty labels though so there shouldn't be a problem. If the guy can say tha a sodimm can burn the motherboard, whoknows what he'll say when he sees the vista on my system. http://eeepc360.blogspot.com/2007/12/drama-asus.html This post has been edited by yoroi: Dec 7 2007, 06:53 PM |

QUOTE(signboard @ Dec 24 2007, 12:24 PM) i don't know if anyone has posted this. if you want applications to run but space is an issue for eeepc, well you can try portableapps. you can run it apps from usb drive or ext. hdd. but then, i think most of it pre-installed on the eeepc. ooo nice... i'm gonna uninstall my open office and firefox and put on the portable suite and see how much space i save...http://portableapps.com/ |
