PETALING JAYA: Shell Malaysia aims to fully enable its new mobile application ‘Shell App’ which is currently available at 650 service stations, at all its 1,010 stations nationwide by end-2023.

General Manager of Mobility, Malaysia, Seow Lee Ming shared that the new app is designed to enhance the fuelling experience by enabling fuel purchases from the comfort of customers’ cars.

"Our aim is to enhance the experience and make things even more convenient for customers. The new app is the first fuel payment app in the country that is protected by a 3-D Secure verification, which adds an extra layer of security to optimise a safer user experience against possible fraud and scam threats.

"In today's fast-paced world, people expect convenience through innovation and choice. Given our synonymity in innovating mobility solutions, the Shell App serves as a pivotal component to elevate experiences for all our customers at Shell,” she told reporters at the launch of the mobile app here, today.

Seow said that the Shell App is also integrated with BonusLink to allow customers to earn points from 3,000 merchants as well as redeem Shell exclusive rewards.

Understanding the need for value-for-money customised deals and promotions, she noted that the app is able to curate a personalised offer based on customers' habitual preferences to enhance their experiences at Shell.

The Shell App is also able to track every spend and BonusLink points earned as well as allows customers to find the nearest Shell station with facilities and amenities, she added.

as a samsung pay user myself, i still use this for samsung rewards, add on with CC cashbacks

too bad samsung pay cannot generate virtual number for the CC

and kena put in the cheap ass bonuslink card to the terminal is still a hassle, sometimes cannot detect then need go counter to scan

Don't worry lah, it's not compulsory. Like Setel also, you are not forced to use app.

RFID fueling is the most convenient. Shell should focus on making more pumps having this feature.

Payment app is OK too. Setel has set the bar that Shell can follow.

even for some of those has, there are some pumps that is still using swiping card

i use paywave/contactless with amex at shell, no issue. can use. (at pump, not counter)

I have to insert my Visa card into a card reader at the Shell pump this morning.

How can I know whether it can accept paywave or not?

SETEL got one tap fueling by pump number, this Shell must type. Aiks.

SETEL accept eWallet.
Caltex GO and Shell Asia doesn't accept.
But wise SETEL interface much nicer, but petrol habis faster.
Still prefer SETEL now.

It’s a bit slower than setel in the sense that you need to authorise the payment everytime you want to fuel up

Authorise as in need to to wait for tac number

It doesnt have ewallet option, yet

That's because grab own jaya grocer

So many apps, even old 128GB phone also not enough storage

Funny xia, last time the shell management say they wont become like setel, why need like setel use app, cos they say at petrol station u not supposed to use ur phone even inside car. now slap themselves in their mouth.

Sometimes the card terminal rejects and you have to go to the counter to make payment anyway.

Like mentioned, Shell is not forcing to use apps. You can use Kad, Cash, RFID

Setel also not forcing app.

Please feel free to diss the company/organization that actually forces app.

That's not good. Tested with my car, it asked for TAC.. I thought issue was my card because I disabled unsecured e-com transaction. Added a different card to try next time I need to refill. Looks like it's going to be the same.

Actually that excuse is reasonable right? That's why paywave is better, and faster. For some, RFID, but I don't use RFID.

Tbh this app thing wasting time sia..my main aim go to petrol station is to fuel up fast..I don't wanna spend the next 15 mins going through an app to pump damn fuel..fastest is paywave I tried it less than 5 mins settle pump and ciao already

Rfid fuelling also not bad..this app thing damn wasting time.

Petrol station should convert their pump kiosk to accept cash also like those parking kiosk..easy for consumer no need to go counter and pay..this is innovation not inventing a damn app and making senior citizen life more stressful

This is so convenient, Shell needs to make sure the security of the app usage.

+1 at least the payment card still hold on hand. Rather then still need to keyin otp before proceed

Shell must still be stuck in cave since Petronas already done it.

Slowest is petron. Petron is going to lose more ground once shell irons out its app to become more hassle free like setel.

Setel gives you the pump number to select, instead of typing the pump number

That is indeed convenient.

Even in Klang valley, maybe around 2 out of 10 shell station got paywave terminal je

For SETEL, press the choice of pump number. I enabled one tap fueling as full tank.
