Hi all,

Recently my ibook is having some problem, the screen will turn off/becoming black out, out of sudden. When i try to restart it, the situation solve, but it comes back on and off..Anyone can give me some advise on this matter? Thx..

Is your iBook an iBook G3? If so google for the ibook reed switch problem. It happened on both my iBook G3 500MHz and 800Mhz, although this was back I think in 2005.

The replacement reed switch and cable costs maybe USD20 each, but the replacement procedure is quite difficult and involved. It's probably the most difficult replacement procedure I've ever done, and I've gone through a lot of them.

I originally bought mine from smalldog but their prices have gone up from $20 to almost $30. Google around for cheaper prices if there are any. I bought two and used them both. If you're buying, I'd suggest getting some of those iBook feet as well, it comes off too easily on the iBook G3.

Better check the installation instructions as well. Best of luck.
