QUOTE(acbc @ Aug 19 2023, 12:17 PM) There's no Typc C to RJ45 male natively. There are Type C or Micro USB OTG to RJ45 female adapters sold on Lazada and Shopee. another thing to add, only Android 9 with new kernel support OTG LAN, tried with lineage OS on OP3T, need older USB LAN Adapter and probably with Realtek chip. newer OTG LAN = need new kernel/android version.

QUOTE(netmatrix @ Aug 19 2023, 04:23 PM) First item confirm have and will work on Android 9. https://www.tp-link.com/my/home-networking/...cessory/ue300c/I tried before on Redmi Note 8 on Android 9 with Type C. Once you connect the adapter it will automatically recognize the USB lan only if you have a LAN cable attached. Problem is there are no settings like IP or DNS that you can change. You can only view the status of the adapter that is working on the notification bar. You will get whatever fastest speed you have on the gigabit ethernet. In this case my house is 300Mbps, the speedtest is around 2xxMbps. There are also certain limitation like minimum version of android that supports this. The site below says Andorid ver 6. https://www.wirelesshack.org/how-to-connect...connection.htmlSo you have to do a little study on the phone and tablet that you intend to use it on. i do not know if this TPLINK UE-300C USB adapter will work if you use a Type C to Micro USB converter. if the phone support OTG and they use older Realtek chip, it may work, the reason for old realtek chip is because the driver/firmware get baked to linux kernel, newer realtek chip may not work with old kernel. my OP3T + leanage works with the old Dlink 1312 which is ancient Lan adapter, whereas newer USB-C hub and LAN only work flawlessly with OP7T above.

QUOTE(netmatrix @ Aug 19 2023, 06:25 PM) The thing is, the USB adapter is not even documented to work with Android. But i saw in manual it supports Chrome OS. So maybe Chrome OS = Android. https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202007/2020...20datasheet.pdfPlug it into phone and it works!!! But cannot config it. Yes its probably supported hardware that is baked into OS prior to release. It costs TS less than RM 100 to try anyway. a lot of hardware does not advertise android support but they just work out of box, all thanks to the linux kernel, literally every OTG lan, 3.5mm jack, HDMI/DP even Dell USB-C dock, USB-C Display works with a lot android phone, yet you don't see a single android logo on it. older phone are tricky unless you flash the leanage OS which baked with newer linux kernel, old stock android has slim chance to support those advanced stuff.

QUOTE(PJng @ Aug 19 2023, 08:15 PM) Easy to check now is go to phone status, on my old samsung device iirc android 9 got Ethernet MAC address, unavailableEven now my 2 samsung device android 13 also got same status, on phone setting, about, status i know, but finding a working OTG Lan for old phone is difficult. Android 13 will support all without doubt. Google need to make a phone that support flashing new linux kernel, instead of whole OS. welp, aint any better than apple's planned obsolesce
