Hi guys,

I'm here keen for advise,

i have an used phone(samsung galaxy s22) i purchased from KL and plan to let go for my in-law in indonesia,

but indonesia custom policy in order to unlock imei/telco sim, we have to pay the tax depending on phone price certain amount .

Some phone shop from here in malaysia told me that you have to make sure at least operate 1 time with local malaysia telco then your able to use other countries telco; but i do not know how to ensure this problem will be solve.

Indonesia Custom Policy

Worse comes to worst i have to pay some amount to unlock the sim permanently from their local phone store.

if anyone encounter this problem before please do let me know the solution.

i appreciate everyone's help and look forward to hearing from you guys here. thanks.

I'm not too sure on the situation but I think it's like this
It doesn't matter you used it here before, the phone is unlocked or whatever

Indonesia requires you to register the IMEI of the phone that wasn't sold there in order to use the network there
So, either way you're paying a fee to Indonesia to be able to use that phone on Indonesian networks

why do you need to unlock the imei/telco?
If u bought from KL original unit, you jus can post to you in-law at indonesia, no need to do anything i guess. cause MY original unit are no lock for SEAO country
