Actually no. If you see stars like Rosamund Kwan, Chingmy Yau, Sharla Cheung, etc. most of them are not skinny at all. Maggie Cheung was the exception one as she got the skinny syndrome before it became widespread.

The skinny syndrome started in early 2000s when TV went HD and screens became widescreen making some actress look chubby on screen.
